Just took a look at the box office top ten this evening...Serenity took only $10...a little disapointing for us I guess...but kinda born out by our experience in the theatre...there cant have been more than 20-30 others in there with us...on a Saturday afternoon show...We thought it was just Jackson...
Oh well...We had already decided to go see it again...hears hoping for a better showing next weekend

My wife and I went to see it in the theatre last night. There was maybe 15 of us all together watching it. Normally I prefer to have next to noone in the theatre with me when I watch a movie but I really want this movie to do well!

I got to see this movie this past Saturday.

What can I say, it was outstanding. Easily the best movie I've seen in a long time. And hands down the best so far this year.

The story was very good.
The writing was clever and funny and interesting. Good F/X.

A few wow moments.

I really hope this gets things rolling again for the Firefly series...

While only $10m opening weekend, it was still #1 for the opening movies and #2 for for current movies, so not all bad. And I go today, making us about the 8-9th ones from our gaming group to see it.

Saw it, liked it, got in free, gotta love it.

I was at a local Burger King, not too far from the mall when a horde of Fireflies swarmed in.

While they were very happy with Serenity I had to leave, I don't want to know what happens, I want to see the movie! Gah!

Going by how many there were I have strong hopes that the movie will hit its mark.

My wife and I saw the movie over the weekend and loved it. I know lots of others who are going to see it or already have, but the main problem in my area is the movie theatre. It's massive, and they normally put big releases on multiple screens, but Serenity is only showing on a single screen. That puts a lot of people off.

The theatre was fairly busy while we were there, but nowhere near typical release weekend kind of busy.

In the words of one friend "Every movie ticket that I buy for the next three weeks will be for Serenity no matter what movie I am going to see."

I saw the movie before ever watching the DVDs of the series (through disc 2 now). Call me crazy, but my initial thought after watching the movie was that Fox might have canceled Firefly because of the show's politics. You've got criminal/rebel heroes, an oppressive Alliance government which periodically espouses some very PATRIOT act like policies, and a network which is a de facto propaganda machine for the GOP (especially for the conservative right).

I dunno, maybe it's working inside the Beltway for too long, but that was what popped into my head as the end credits rolled.

Have you guys seen the toys from Serenity? Two versions of Mal and two versions of Jayne, and a Reaver that's... comical.

I understand the need for toys (I collect quite a few) to help merchandise a movie. But with only five toys for three characters, and all looking sub-par... it's just too bad. I would have loved to see a Reaver done by McFarlane, and one of each main character. Ah, well.
