I went a bit further on the tiles than a texture.
Since I used it for massing and general layout only I did need some indication of a street, parking lot, park and so on.

It was a simple procedure to make street tiles by making the street dark grey vs. light grey for the sidewalk. Now though that is a bit more work initially then the textured version, it does give you a sense of whats going on and protects the texture aspect.

Sly like the Mayhem geometry, you've put a fair bit of work into it.

As for the texture free mini chunk blocks, I'm happy to finish cleaning them up and submit them to Aubrey as a bash, guess there not really a bash, the other bonus of no textures is the small size 2mb vs 30mb and its much more pleasant using them in sketchup on a low spec pc (ie my laptop).

If it has no textures place it on the Warehouse not the Kitbash list - kit bashes are for items that use texture from WWG stuff. As well as the fact if your place it on the SketchUp Warehouse it will cut down on traffic.


I find that with out the textures you may as well use any old paint program - the beauty of SketchUp is the ability of adding the great textures from WWG and breath life into a pure 3D virtual world.

I would still pay for sets that were pure SketchUp. Just think of the maps and hand outs your can achieve with this program and the textures.

Texture free sets would work fine for just planning layouts. But my real interest in the program is to plan out kitbashes. For that I would absolutely need to have the textures in place.

I would pay for textured sketchup versions of the sets I already own. But I wouldn't bother to buy texture free sets. I could use graph paper just as easily.

So I'm just getting started playing around with Sketchup (I know, late starter) and so far it looks incredibly intuitive. I've dabbled with Maya before when I did an animation course and found that pretty complicated, but Sketchup seems to have many features to make things easier.

While I'm figuring things out, I would love to be able to drop some shapes right in and play with possible layouts. Would anyone share the untextured models already built? Specifically I'm looking at Mayhem, and Slymoon's in particular. I have all the modern sets, but am not looking for the textured version anyway, just the models themselves that I can move around for a layout.

Ld If you size the texture in the materials window to the size of the panel your painting you should be able to paint bucket multi-times without needing to rescale.



eg in th above my cube sides are 13 7/8" by 17 7/8" High, click the chain link icon so it doesn't constrain proportions , then enter the height and width measurements of the sides and paint each side with the texture.

The other option is to cut the texture to the exact size in photoshop/Gimp you need for each side, then export the texture piece and save it as a jpg. In sketchup us File>>Import in the lower drop down box select jpg from the list on the right side select the use as texture option. then select a corner and drag your texture onto a side, it should fit perfectly.(hopefully the below picy helps make some sense of that:)



Either method should let you select the side and copy and paste it with the texture, it does duplicate the whole side not just the texture, the lower right image above shows a copy/pasted side next to the cube, but a quick flip and you can stick it to the other side of the cube.

To help speed up sketchup lower the res on your a textures a little and convert them to JPG makes a surprisingly large performance difference with not much affect to visual quality, think I used 100dpi on a high quality JPG.

BTW Like the Villageworks pieces , sorry if the above is to basic or no help at all.

I'm not sure this is what I'm trying to do. I take the WW pdf of an object and import it into sketchup. Then I take those thumb tack tools and rotate and expand a section of the texture to fit on a face of my 3d object.

I'm not going to make a seperate file for every face of every object.

And that phot bucket tool seems to be trying to strech in the entire importing texture. I did type in the exact dimensions and the turned off that chain link.


I've have gone ahead and reduced the sixe of the jpegs I'm importing. I do hope that helps with the slow down problem. But I don't really want to redo those items I've already done.

Well it looks pretty and all but I think I'd just leave them untextured.

I whiped this together in about 15 min from scratch.





This is my Chunky Gothic with the new reworked sewer pools. The bridge is not the normal one either. Just made that up as well.

This is nice way to make up a dungeon and find out how many pieces it needs. Now is there any one that can take the individual pieces and make a 3D WWG Random Dungeon Generator? Then have it total up how many pieces total needed to build it and build dimensions to make sure it will fit on your table!

Very cool piper. Not everyone can whip it up that fast, but it does make it easier without the official textures, and is still clear what is what.

Looking at your gallery... I noticed those dungeon layout playing cards... is that a game you are designing? The idea itself is interesting... I want to know more

I think counting the tiles took longer than making them. Could always color the pieces for easier counting. Like Big Walls Yellow, Small walls blue, than sort of thing.

Those cards are for Mage Quest. Us few and proud Mage Knight Dungeon players are adding elements from Mage Knight 2.0 to MKD. Stuff like Domains from MK 2.0 and stuff like that.

Thats why I'm excited for this Dungeon Linx game. I love dungeon crawl games (hence the website Dungeon Crawlers)

Just a quick heads up that we will be looking into Sketchup related product integrations in September. There are a few issues we have to work out in terms of submission guidelines and or the legalities of offering these files in the first place. A number of other projects are currently playing havoc with our ability to focus on this right now but it is on the radar.

From a personal perspective I love what you guys are doing with Sketchup and I really hope we can make this work somehow.
