Post subject:  Missing some downloads?

It was brought to my attention earlier today that some old downloads are missing from the My Collections area in some customer accounts. After some investigation, we found the cause, and we are planning out a fix for the issue.

This issue only affects some orders that were made before the new storefront went live, and only for a small number of products.

I wanted to let you guys know that we're aware of the issue and we'll get it taken care of as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Way to be on it right away...even before most realize that there is an issue.

Not including the sets and adventures that have vanished into the aether, I expect?

The Auld Grump

That's correct Grump. Retired products (not visible in the catalog) are classed as "legacy" downloads and in the short term we will only offer backups for those if a specific request is made to customer service.

Good catch guys, I just noticed that Verus was missing when I went to write a review.

And my Forge mask & sword!

Thanks for the reminder. I've already prepared and tested the fix for this issue, but it requires a period of downtime to be scheduled. Once I have a date set, I'll make another announcement in advance.

Running the database fix for this issue is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 20th at midnight CST. The site will be down for about an hour or so.

I've completed the scheduled maintenance. Actually, I finished it over an hour ago, and the site was down for less than 10 minutes.

-Those of you with missing downloads *should* see them in My Collection now.

-You may have to page through your collection to see them all, as downloads are clustered by order from newest to oldest.

-This fix did not do anything for discontinued products. Those will be dealt with separately by other means.

Here is a list of affected products that should be fixed:

Streets of Mayhem
CastleWorks: Ultimate
Chunky Dungeons
InteriorWorks: Castles & Keeps
InteriorWorks: Pubs & Inns
Dice Tower: Tower of CHAOS
Mayhem Rail
A Maiden's 20
Citizens of Himmelveil I
Citizens of Himmelveil II
Himmelveil: Canals
MAYHEM: Armoury 1 / TerrainlinX Edition
MAYHEM: Streets of Legend / TerrainlinX
Lost Halls of the Dwarven Kings
FORGE: The Lightning Gun
FORGE: The Warlock Blade
FORGE: Warlock King
Hinterland Forests / TerrainlinX Edition
Scenic Encounters: Goblin Raid
Scenic Encounters: Literary Error
Scenic Encounters: The Tir Wraith
Scenic Encounters: The Burning Run

Heh, you pulled a ninja on me while I was composing my announcement.

Thank you for checking!

Thanks for sorting this out Chris. 8)

I'm still missing downloads for InteriorWorks: Castles & Keeps and InteriorWorks: Pubs & Inns, which were purchased back in 2006 as the InteriorWorks Combo. (Yes, one of those annoying ancient oddities)?

The Warlock Blade and Warlock King I picked up in last year's sale haven't appeared in my downloads - but given they were sale freebies, that isn't a big deal.

FYI, it would be nice to have WWG backups of some of the retired sets and kitbashes, as I still build stuff from them (mainly props) - but understand why they haven't come across to the new store. Kind of hoping they'll get included with the short access to retired sets that Denny has mentioned.

Not a problem, I can run another fix that spools out new downloads for that bundle. The same applies to other bundles, so let me know if there are also other instances of this problem.

Can you PM me the order number so I can check that and see what exactly caused that? There's more than one possible cause for freebies disappearing, but I'd need an order number before I can pin down a culprit.

It's on the list.

I had to look into the database anyway, so I did a quick check.

You *do* have both the Warlock Blade and Warlock Mask in your downloads, after all. There was a check in last night's fix that prevents duplicate downloads from being generated--since you already had both in your freebie stash, it skipped over these two. If they hadn't already existed in My Freebies, it'd have spooled them into My Collection instead.

Thanks for all that Chris. Have sent you a couple of PMs with relevant order numbers, anyway.

Checking orders against my downloads, I can't find downloads for a number of kitbashes for older products. Dropping kitbashes for discontinued products (e.g VillageWorks), I can understand. But the ones for continuing products (in my case FirstLight and MiniChunk) are still useful.
Have these been dropped? Bundled into the product download? Or are they hiding somewhere else in the download section?

Post subject:

That depends.

1. If the kitbashes in question were deactivated or discontinued, you won't see them in any of the collections even if you own the parent product.

2. Moderators/staff with freebie access will already have all of the active items in My Freebies, and duplicate downloads will not be generated. (Same issue I mentioned before.)

3. If #1 or #2 do not apply, then it's highly likely that the parent product was not correctly set for the kitbash in question. On the new setup, all kitbashes are required to have a parent product, otherwise the store doesn't know when to give them out free of charge.

If you can provide me with a specific list, I can find out what the case is for each of them.

I looked into it and it seems those kitbashes are either discontinued, haven't been added to the new storefront yet, or are currently inactive.

I wouldn't be too disappointed about that if I were you, however, because Bob mentioned to me the other day that he was still working through a large backlog of kitbashes, and because of the size of the backlog, it would be a while before that task is completed.

Any missing kitbashes that are activated down the road will just automatically appear in My Kitbashes with no further intervention from you. :)
