I know that its somewhere on your list of things to do, I just wanted to suggest something for if /when it ever gets made.

Most wargamers have a large selection of miniatures that get toted from game to game. Its not like an RPG where you MIGHT have 1 figure, and the DM provides most if not all of the terrain / figures that are used.

Terrain storage & moving is a big issue because ....well.... terrain is ... big.

If / when you do enter into terrain, I think the biggest selling point for card stock is NOT its price or ease of assembly or creation. (most wargamers spend FORTUNES on their figures and terrain, They spend months painting figures, and hours and hours making/ buying terrain.)

I think the biggest selling point is portability. If you can design the terrain pieces to collapse flat, a large selection of terrain would not take up any more space than a rule book.

If the terrain looked as good as your other stuff, I can easily see it quickly dominating the market for Fantasy and Sci Fi wargaming.

Personally, storage isn't my biggest concern with wargaming terrain, it's CHEAP, good looking, easily buildable terrain that I dont mind getting damaged (since I can print out a new copy and replace).

The problem with making something fold to store flat is that it will have a tendency to return to that shape. You would need hard, physical reinforcing pieces, and it would still TRY to return to it's folded flat shape.

The old TSR cardstock buildings were designed to collapse... I'll take WW any day over the what they had though.

But then again I tend to give my terrain away when I get bored with it. (In some cases as prizes for events.) I always make sure that there is a WW logo on the terrain somewhere, and the URL for RPGNow.

However I have found that I can't bring myself to give away the Maiden... She is the hardest WW piece to build, at least in my experience, but the toil is repaid many times.

I definatly wouldn't want low quality in exchange for collapsable. But the fact is, the majority of wargamers tote their stuff somewhere to play. Having toteable terrain would sure be nice.

I'm definatly aware of the issues posed about collapseable terrain, But I also have faith in denny's creative ability. Had I not seen WWG, i'd still be telling people card stock looked like crap. So I figure if anyone can come up with a soltion to the problem, it would be Denny

It wouldn't even have to be super fast to set up, just portable and up to WWG standards.

An idea for toting terrain then, inspired by the method used on Chunky Dungeons - use disks of velcro to hold the terrain in place inside the box - while it won't make the box any smaller it will prevent the models from bouncing around and getting crumped.
