Thanks for the enthusiasm gang! We're pretty happy with how things turned out. Chris and I turned this out in record time because of a new sweet workflow. The funniest thing about this Roll Arena is that the early prototype was hashed out in 2002! I was trying to apply it to a game system all this time (which is still happening actually) but decided to release a new system generic version for everyone to take advantage of.

To answer some specifics:

* The arena itself is 8"X8"

* The Cards are 3.5"X2.5"

* Each individual card chamber/holder (there are 3) is approx 3.75" X 2.62"

* Throwing dice into cardstock actually has some great properties. There's a very minor amount of spring which adds to random roll potential and its a bit slidy as well. You might think you have dice throwing mastery but its harder than it looks.

* Coming up with individualized uses for the arena is priority #1 with this thing. You can make it mean what ever the heck you want it to mean.

* Active hit location is FANTASTIC fun!

Seeing as it is listed in Game Aids, this sounds like a strong possibility.

Yikes. I don't know what it is, and until just now, I didn't know I needed one! But, now I do!

If this is far enough along to be teased about, then I have only one thing to say:

"Go Feisty Friar! Go!"

Three dice enter... Only one leaves.

Or you can throw your dice to the lions when they roll too high...

Just noticed this is a Denny, Chris tag team. That means it will be eve more awesome than normal. With and extra helping of "soon"

It looks somewhat like a cyberpunk eye implant. A bloody cyperpunk eye implant... with numbers and symbols.

? perhaps a modified *working* catapult to launch the die? [rubber bands not included]

It appears to be a roulette-esque spinner OR a sectioned-off "arena" (holding area) where you cast/drop an item and they land in a specified area, thus denoting the value of the "roll."

Mayhap a turn counter?

Now there's an idea.

Turn Counters are pretty well represented.

WWG guys - should we be trying to decode the runes in the image for some clues? (I'll plant the idea, and hope someone else has that much free time to devote to it...)

First question should be : Does the background image has anything to do with Roll Arena, or is it linked to something totally different?

But, we already know we need THAT!

I do see numbers on the lower edge but they're certainly not arranged like a turn counter...

It looks repulsive to me ... a big eye ... bloody ... definitely not what I need.

lol...The bloody eye is the dramatic version. My apologies on that one, there are other less dramatic (less potentially stomach turning) versions included.

Looks like a wheel of fortune / roulette wheel to me. Either mount & spin or lay flat, border it with a wall, and throw a ball/stone/die in there to see where it lands. The second option would call for some dimensionality though...

A roulette wheel would be pretty cool.

@ScrubKai - Yes , I've looked at Siegeworks - just didn't remember the catapult as being actually functional

Oooh...maybe a game within a game - something that is system generic but that can be played within any of them.
