I think that the last time I heard a premature 'Soon' from Denny was Streets of Himmelveil.

That one still hurts... I really need a bit more of movement in general... Is all tooooo calm no ? Is the calm before the stotm ? You'll flood us with new releases !?

Whenever we get one of these lulls, I'm always hoping that Denny is holding onto things for an orderly release, so that we will have one set a month for a while.

Of course, that's never what happens, but it's what I'd love so I keep hoping.

I haven't done the counts recently, but irrc, 2011 is the year with the largest release schedule thus far. There is a thread around here somewhere if you guys are interested.

I don't have the data, but my sense was we got a flurry of activity early one, then a reasonable but sporadic stream of products throughout the year. So I would not be surprised if 2011 has the highest release count.

Adding TCP and the website redesign, there was a lot going on.

Short term we'll have Matt Lyon's re-imagined SwiftScenics offerings for Mayhem Downtown. 5 buildings in all.

As mentioned before, Tomas's Fiesty Friar is on the brink. Really very excited about that one too!

There has also been some VERY interesting work done recently on the TerrainlinX model planner software. That's getting a lot closer to wrapping up.

The rest of it I can't really talk about other than to say, there's work happening in multiple directions. The real problem is that it's all slow cooking stuff, with a lot of upfront effort and very little to report on either because we can't or because its just about raw effort (grunts and gnashing of teeth trying to get everything done).

This year has been one of our most prolific to date but we've gone into this sort of intense period of quiet labor as we inch closer to wrapping up 2011. I'm hoping that we can shed some light on this stuff in upcoming weeks and as always, we really appreciate everyone's patience and support!

Just so that its not lost on anyone, the reason I did the whole "Soon TM" thing was to make fun of the entire concept of overusing and over-promising with a term like soon! We're still in the process of changing our workflow to speed things up, offering better regularity and to really nail down a committed core of developers. We don't like making you guys wait but we also don't like to tease prematurely. If we prattle on about this delay or that delay, who's dog died that week, who had to take on extra work shoveling ditches to make ends meet, well, that tends to look pretty unprofessional.

And so you know I wasn't saying that I had lost respect for WWG.
Reaper got my goat with it and it was the final nail in their coffin for me, I just discount Reaper and everything they say now.

I can understand how you would be poisened by this word. My own experience was with a GW. When I started 40K, I grabbed up Eldar like mad during the last year of the 3rd Ed. Eldar codex and Craftworld codex. People kept saying they were getting a new codex "soon", so be careful. It took a year, and my heavily themed Craftworld armies (4 armies, with options totaling 10,000+ points) became defnuct and the new codex was bland and underpowered. That was in 2005-2006. Now I am a 2011-2012 and a new Eldar codex should be out "soon". Which in GW's mind is between 2-4 years....
