| Post subject: | Chunky Dungeons Gets Great Reviews at NY Con! |
First off let me say that Chunky Dungeons was the first WorldWorksGames item i ever bought and it is AWESOME! I love the way it all works together and the designs are just gorgeous. Now to the real reason I dropped by; I set up a great dungeon (4 boards in a rectangle) and ran Reaper Miniature's new game Warlord at Running Gagg in Geneseo, New York. All of the participants loved it and many people passing by either eyed it or made comments about its appearance. I'll throw a of the setup I used in this post so everyone can see it. With luck I will be able to attend another convention this March in Rochester, New York. I plan to run a five event demo/tournament of Warlord in a four floor mansion constructed from Chunky Dungeons and possiblly CaveWorks (still need to get CaveWorks). If I get to do this I would ask the winners of the first four events to come back for a Finale Match for the fifth event. I don't know if it would be possible, but I would really like to be able to offer a prize to a winner of that Finale Match. So here is the pic I promised: |

Wow! I have to know too . . . how long *did* it take you to make that? I've been futzing with mine in my spare time for a couple months and I don't have nearly that much stuff! What's your secret . . . did you outsource the labor overseas?

Well, most of it was done in about a month, but I have more pieces than are on the board. I have also done some stuff from Pubs and Inns, but haven't got to use it yet. I'll throw the rest of my pictures on the interent and here's a link to them: A dungeon we used in a game of D&D (The bard bought the place and turned it into a inn and tavern.) Jazaroom Interiors: These were obviously the Pubs and Inns pieces. The lighting turned out to be quite good, and I am amazed how steady my hands were when taking these pictures. was used in the store where I game a lot. Same size as the one in the first post, but a slightly different arrangment. Now I think I need to get some CastleWorks and CaveWorks and I can do a multi-layered setting. First, let me be the first to welcome you to the forums Acyd69  , your build must have convinced everyone that you've been a long time forum member  ! That is one big beautiful build, and I think it's great that your supporting Denny and advertising WW's at the Cons. If you get the chance toss up some more pics, damn that's a nice build !

Can you also give us a run down on the game play of Warlord - I have yet to play it (yes I own it but time.....). How does WWG add to the game? Oh, as Shatteredragon pointed out, "Welcome to the fold". Lord Abaddon of Wormwood Yes I stole that from some one! |

Now about Warlord... Warlord is of course Reaper Miniatures' newest game. It employs game play very similar to CAV. Basically you have miniatures that have different stats and you build an army based on points. Wanna learn how to play, come see us at a convention or pick up a copy of the play book (very nice full color hard cover rule book). As for game play it is great, fast paced and easy to understand. You can imagine that a miniatures game would be best played on terrain that is three dimensional, enter WWG's. The dungeon worked out great, especially with the 1.5 inch grid since most of the 25mm minis are very action-posed and tend to stretch well off thier bases. I can't wait to get a Castle together and let the orcs (known as Reven in Warlord) storm the place and crush the knights (aka Crusaders). There are a bunch of other factions, Darkspawn (dark elves and demons), Dwarves, Elves, Reptus (lizard folk and trolls), Necropolis (the undead), Nefsokar (egyptian mummies). As to actual game play, think D&D. Each mini gets two actions, combat and non-combat. Typically this is a move then attack. Any model that is attacked gets an opportunity to hit back (defensive strike). There are also archers and wizards and clerics that can use thier combat actions to cast spells or rain arrows upon the enemy. I have sen lots of different types of models for this game, foam builds tend to be the most common, but I hope to change that by continually showing off my WWG's builds. I think the Castle and the caves will really get some people hooked. Well, not sure what else to say about Warlord. If you got questions check out Warlord section. |

The Warlord Orcs are bloody danged cool. I had been using them as Trollkin in my Iron Kingdoms game, now that official Trollkin (Boomhowler* and comany) are out they are being used in Mordheim, where they tower over the GW Orcs who are used as da Boyz. I have to admit that I played Orcs that session just to put the Reaper Orcs on the table... Junior (da Troll) is also a reaper mini, one of the cave trolls. They should just be glad I didn't field Mama. (Topless female troll... Yug!) The Auld Grump * Boomhowler is a hound dog, man, a bird dog! (How many remember their 1950s slang?) |
