I've been preparing for an Evernight campaign (Savage Worlds), and going through all the various sets to find appropriate terrain (I'm combining WWG sets with Dundjinni for some seriously incredible effects). In the past, I assembled a nice little fort with Skull Cove, and I've used various other props (Skull Rock, obelisks, a few huts) from the set. That right there made me quite appreciate the set, but with Evernight in mind, I went through Skull Cove with a fine toothed comb last night. Okay, Skull Cove is _really_ cool. I put together some of the cliffs last night, for a few of the Evernight exterior shots. While they look good in the pictures, they look GREAT on the table in front of me. And as I was building them, I kept thinking of more and more uses for them. Very, very nice. And as if that wasn't enough, there are rocks, trees, shrubs, barrels, cargo and a whole collection of little boats. AND, to go with the Maiden, there are piers and docks. I like the docks. I really like the docs. I'm trying to figure out how to use the docks with Evernight, but I think I might just have to wait to use them when I run 50 Fathoms. Anyhow, I don't hear much about Skull Cove, so I thought I'd give it the props it well deserves. |

I like Skull Cove too. I used several pieces from it to set up the first scene for 50 Fathoms, including the Jolly Boat for the PCs escape vehicle from the island. For Evernight, Shane posted several of my EN campaign's WorldWorks scenes over on PEG's site a while back. I have used very little of the tropical elements from Skull Cove, but many of the rest have been assimilated into various projects. The piers, dock, and crane in particular have been quite handy, as has the water. The fort became part of my tower bridge model, while the skull was formerly mounted over the mouth of my pirate Cave Works model. (Actually the skull was the first part used, right after downloading it as a patch/demo.) I am also thinking about building an island for a one shot adventure for All Flesh Must Be Eaten, what could be better than cannibal zombies while trapped on a tropical island? The theme includes zombies, bank robbers, a lost Spanish fort, hostile natives, wild pigs, and being downwind of a nuclear test at the Bikini Atoll... The Auld Grump |
