The report feature can definitely be useful, especially for the more descrete spammers. We try very hard as moderator's to not let spam posts linger very long. On a side note, posting in spam threads can prove to be more work than it helps because depending on which clean-up process is chosen it could mean not deleting the thread and leaving only posts about spam with the spam post deleted. I hope that makes at least some sense. |

Backing up what Talae said, it's best to just hit the report button (at top right of the post) on a spam post rather than respond to it, especially if the spammer is resurrecting an old thread (aka thread necro). There's a bunch of reasons for this, which boil down to: we find them faster and they're easier to clean up if no one responds to them. If you're in a thread and see a spam post, please report it, that helps. But don't open up a thread just to report spam, as that's not needed. As for spammers making multiple posts (which seems to be happening a lot lately), the same guidance applies: if you're in a thread and see a spam post report it, but no need to go hunting as we'll get them shortly. (FYI, the forum has a function that allows us to delete all posts in one go, something that gets used with prejudice where multi-posting spammers are concerned.) p.s Good questions, BTW. |

Egads now I feel stupid. Saw several yesterday that got a post from me. Wish I had known, (or remembered) that button. Sorry for my error. |

I noticed a bunch the other day, reported like 6 but didn't go to all the threads who's last post shared the same name. IIRC the mods have the ability to purge all the posts from a name, and frankly I didn't have it in me to go into the other like 5 threads. |

It is my morning ritual to use the quick links at the top right of the pages to just go to the next new message. Don't really check the header I guess. Maybe I am one of those mindless zombies I hear about all the time. |

Most days I only check a few of the sections. Since I'm not currently building (actually have never built) looking up building tips starts to get old so things like that end up getting ignored. |
