I don't know.. there was a lot here that made me think of a bunch of non-gamers really 'taking the piss' on their gaming friends. I actually found most of it hard to enjoy or even painful at points with the 'hate humor' so strong in places. But I'm one of those sensitive.... no, I can't say that with a straight face.

Sorry you felt that way, Jaynz. I assure you that the creators of this show are, in fact, proud RPG players, so I guess we're just pissing ourselves really. Sorry, Reed. I don't want to blow up the forums with a flame-war over this, but I have to admit that I really don't like the series. It's technically well done in a lot of areas, but I can't stand any of the characters (as in, I would love to see each brutally murdered in turn in another segment), the humor is often hateful and purile (how many fart jokes in that last segment? Four? One per minute?), and the cross-takes really just make everyone, including the main character, look downright mean to tabletop gaming. Personally, I'm not sure I would want my work to be featured in such a negative portrayal of gaming, much less openly brag about it. :S |

Wanted add a shout-out to WWG for their awesome backgrounds and props in these episodes. It's added a LOT to the show and given it a distinct visual style. Jaynz, you are certainly entitled to not share our sense of humor (although, I don't recall any fart jokes). I'm not going to take it personally. However, I don't think it's very objective to make a blanket statement that we are being "hateful and puerile" in our portrayal of fictional players participating in a fictional game. Nobody actually thinks people who play role-playing games are like this; the characters are ridiculous and clearly farcical. Do people who watch "It's Always Sunny..." assume that the creators hate bar-owners? I understand that you don't like the show. Fine. But it's quite a leap to say that just because the characters are flawed the show is hateful. Anyway, this is our first foray into the medium and we're learning how to get from what was pictured in the mind's eye to what appears on screen. Constructive criticism is always appreciated, although maybe you should PM me from here on out. Cheers, Reed |

While I can see that there are stereotypes being portrayed in this, I enjoyed watching the episodes. I felt that it was humorous and loved to see some WWG love. |
