Thanks to the diligent efforts of our very own CapnG (Matt Lyon) the official WorldWorks Games Model Planner is now online (ALL HAIL MATT!). Matt beat us to the punch and delivered a tool we had put on hold some time ago. We provided Matt with a basic graphic interface and matt turned a dream into a reality! He spent days and hours coding, tweaking the interface and getting everything “just right” with some wonderful top-down modifications from Andorax’s model set breakdowns. This is the first Beta of the planner as we plan to update it with new features throughout the year. And some of you thought my simple little layout sheets were cool. This is COOL!

And it can finally allow me to easily communicate what I've had in mind for some time. Obviously, some customization is needed here, but the basic concept for my "heavy freight hauler" looks something like this:



The design on top is the lower decks, and the design on the bottom, the upper. One sits atop the other in a two-level design. The Cargo Bays do not have floors on the upper deck (they're double-height), and the outer doors on the bottom deck bays are upside down, making a roughly octagonal outer hatch.

Cramped crew quarters are in the only Room A of the entire ship, which does have 1 turret, airlock, and escape pod.

These elements, a bit of customization here and there, a few ladders, and hammer out something custom to make a catwalk for the inner walls of each cargo bay and across the reactor room...and it's ready to fly!

What kind of features would you be looking to implement? I have very little experience with Flash, but have a pretty good background in programming. It may be possible that I could lend a hand, or suggest someone who could.

Are you trying to get me started on my B5 campaign? This is an excellent means to do so.

Not sure what you mean -- I can access the tool when I'm online, but I don't see how to d/l it to use offline. It's not a browser problem, I've tried looking at the link you mention in both Firefox and internet Exploder. It's not a big thing, I just thought it would be nifty to work on proposed deckplans when I'm NOT online.

Alexio, start the model planner then look in your Temporary Internet Files folder for
flmodelplanner.swf

It will probably be the last file in a list. Copy it to another folder (pick one you can find easily). You should then be able to use it offline just by clicking on it. You need to move a copy out of the Temporary Internet Files folder because it will disappear when your cache is cleared.

Which is what I was trying to say, but I gave way too little info in my post.. Sorry about that. It is rare that I don't type way too much in the way of instructions, but it does happen... Usually when I am working on game stuff, and have my brain on too many things at once. (In this case what the difficulties inherent in chalk tunneling in Rottingdean England might be... for some reason not much about that out on the web..)

If you ever need to save a Flash file you can find the title to look for up in the top bar. Then just go to the Temporary Internet folder and sort by type, which will line up all the SWF files so you can rummage through them.

Someimes you can save the page, and the SWF will be in the folder containing the files for the page.

*EDIT* Mind you, this doesn't work on every flash file, some need to be downloaded every time, but I have a nice collection of Denny's movies. I pull out the ones for CWU and The Maiden to show people now and again. Though they look much better with the webpage than alone, Denny frames the Flash Movies, which are larger than they appear on his pages.

For CW:U it would be great to have the items (walls, floors, props etc) and then a buildings verson, like a city planner programe. This way you could design a building or lay-out a castle.
