How many people really like the 30mm (1/60) builds WWG use to design in before they changed to TLX (using 2" high walls instead of 3" high walls. I have bought both but really prefer the older sets. I actually build the older sets. They are not so labor intensive among other things. I think I am more a collector of the TLX sets ... having built a few and left others half done. I think I'll get to another TLX set but always put it off or thinking of a work around to bring it back to the old style. Is it just me or what. |

I've "grown up" on TLX, and really appreciate the modularity of the system, so I guess I've got a built-in bias to the 2" format. I also like the scale of a 2" wall better, since I'm a 1" grid kinda guy. A 10' high wall seems OK to me, but a 15' high wall seems too large. |

I like the TLX, like Mr. Proteau said, the modularity is amazing. It also seems like if I break parts of it, I can easily replace those parts without having to rebuild half the project. That being said, I was sad the walls were so small. 3" walls would be amazing. I like the double height walls in Sector Sigma, would like to see more of those. ~J |

I am somebody that cam around before TLX and prefer it. My players were not a fan of the amount of blocked sight on the table with the 3" walls. |

This is a hard one. Overall, I'd have to say I prefer the aesthetic of the higher walls, however for active gaming the shorter walls make it much easier to see and move minis. If we were actively gaming with the terrain (which I'm missing) then the convenience of the shorter TLX walls would be a clear winner. But as my current gaming group don't see a need for terrain or mini's (a very narrative group) my builds are for my aesthetic pleasure only, which means the better looks beats convenience for me atm. |

I wanted to use some of the old sets with the TLX and reduced them by 86% to get the 6" TLX foot print and it turned out the walls were 2.5" high. I liked better ... not as cramped as TLX wall hight. Next I am going to blow up a TLX set and see what I get. I am hoping for a match of the 2.5" wall height. I'd feel better with that. It might be just a bit of a mess. Oh well, I will just keep tinkering with it. |

I much preferred the 3" walls... 2" is just not high enough to hide monsters in before the roof is removed to reval the encounter... |

In actual use I strongly prefer the 2" walls, since it allows better reach within set pieces. 3" high walls for tight areas (like the back hallways of the mall) really made things a pain to work with in using them. TLX's major downside is that it's very labor intensive to get a board up and going. I can't just 'throw down' a couple of stores, but will need to spend a chunk of time doing the setup even after the large amount of time needed to get all those posts and anchors together. It's a very nice end-effect, but I easily see why it's so off-putting for so many paper-prop fans. |

As for the aesthetics, I like the 3" walls, but they get all kinds of complaints in games. As a convention GM my stuff gets in front of a lot of different people. When I used the 3" stuff, people would complain about the terrain getting in the way sometimes. Since I have moved to 2" walls, never even once have I heard complaints against them. People still complain about the 3" stuff, but I am not going to get rid of it because some people complain. |
