There is so much that I wish WorldWorks would do. I truly feel that they have only scratched the surface of what is possible with the TLX system. The thread on the conversion of the cathedral to TLX opened my eyes to what the potential there really is.
Since they're no longer developing anything, what I wish they'd do now is put out a licensed developer's kit that included all of their current templates, and with that let anyone develop and sell kits through something similar to an app store where WWG gets a cut of every sale.
I understand that they feel strongly about keeping the quality high, and an anything goes development community would result in a lot crap becoming available. But it would also result in some really good stuff that we would never see otherwise, as well as innovations and additions to the current templates that could greatly expand on the current capabilities. Plus those releasing lower quality stuff would have the opportunity to grow their skill set and may eventually be able to do high quality work. Let the market sort it out. WWG could officially sanction whatever met their quality standards, and let customers know that they are on their own with everything else.
My interest is in fantasy, and here is an off-my-head list of kits I'd be interested in:
Generic dungeon pieces - the current themed stuff is cool but some generic content would be great. There should be all kinds of floor tiles, with pentagrams, many different kinds of traps (maybe there could be whole separate traps set), and other features. And walls with secret doors that blend in with the pattern but are noticeable if you look. Basically both generic and specialty floor tiles and walls.
Dungeon props, with statues, idols, fountains, pools, raised daises, treasure chests, thrones, etc. Look through any published fantasy adventure and there should be plenty of ideas for things to stock a dungeon. Some of these would not need to use TLX stuff, others would use the existing anchor/post system.
An undead themed dungeon set, which I would call Crypt of the Lich King.
A demon/hell themed dungeon set.
Castle kits in both good and evil styles. With the evil one you could build a gothic vampire's castle.
A wizard's tower, good and evil versions.
A haunted/creepy house set, with an above-ground crypt add-on.
I know that some of this exists in various forms in the older, non-TLX kits. I wish WWG or someone else would port over the existing catalog. I also know there forum topics for stuff you'd like to see, but I don't think those will be seen much right now.
Sorry if this seems inappropriate under this topic. Maybe those considering going their own way could run with some of these ideas. It would be awesome if they could be made compatible.
