FL doesn't have a gridless version? Rats, well, that's something to consider... I rather like gridless systems myself too. Of course, I didn't see gridlines so much as I see plates on the floor, so it's forgivable in my case because I actually do play in a 1.0 environment. But I certainly see your point if you're gaming in a 1.5 environment.
Reading around the forums, aren't there zooming tricks that can be employed in this case if you are all for the grid?
The only time I really mind the grids at all is when they are on dirt and grass and such... It makes me feel as if we're plotting the earth so we can plant rice or something
