On the fairly strong chance that this domain doesn't get renewed next month... what's everyone's thoughts on storing our bashes, the community, and all that stuff? I'm going to be putting my original work as its own imprint, of course.. but I'm referring to things that we've all done that are definitely core to WWG. |

1) Is it legal in some sort of "clone - archive" manner? 2) Who has the tech savvy / resources to do so? Beyond those two important questions, I think it would be a good idea. Intermittent necrobowsing of the *old* posts makes me sad that a large portion of the old pics were lost because, in reading the posts, I would really have liked to see what they had actually done (picture worth a thousand words, and all that). |

The has some stuff, although it is not up to date. It would be nice to have something more comprehensive. Also, what about a contact list / FB group / etc. so we can still communicate with those who share our mutual interest? |

Otherwise, I (or, someone) can start up a free ProBoards forum. But, I'm still here until they close the doors, and I'm guessing they aren't closing the doors.

It seems very unlikely that the WWG domain will get abandoned, not least because people keep buying WWG sets. However, as a back-up, I'm happy to act as a point of contact to re-establish this community elsewhere should that prove necessary. If you'd like that, PM me your email address and I'll file it securely against the possibility, however small, that we lose these forums. As for backing-up the forums themselves. If anyone knows how to do that, that would be awesome (and provide yet another layer of protection against data vandals - not that we seem to need that, but you never know). |

Man, it would really be nice if someone like Chris Roe who occasionally checks the boards could pop in here to allay our fears that the website is going away in 15 or so days. |

I usually don't revisit the pot-stirring threads, but I might as well answer Ninevah's question while I'm here. The domain renewal is automated. If payment fails or there's a problem with the transaction, there's usually a window where the situation can be rectified with a phone call or an email or whatever, so it'll just automatically bill the card and life will go on normally. If not, Denny will get an email or a phone call from the hosting company informing him that there was a problem with the transaction, and he'll have an opportunity to do something about it at that time. Which brings me to the other question...I haven't heard anything about WWG being suddenly disposed of in November, and I'm still getting payouts from them from sales of the handful of products I still have up. Same for Matt. If the store was going to be shut down, we'd have gotten some advance warning. I haven't heard anything of the sort, and knowing Denny, he wouldn't just pull the plug without announcing it in advance. |

Come on, Chris, be fair. No one's trying to 'stir the shit' here, but are just trying to figure out what to do now with the company now officially in 'abandonware' status. After being ignored by WWG for a year and a half now, I don't see how worrying about the domain renewal is all that out of line. |
