Hey all, Many of you have been asking for an update regarding WWG's future. And you have been rightly frustrated by the lack of communication. I suppose the best way to start is to frame the papercraft terrain industry in general. We built an amazing variety of innovative products over the past 10 years and by and large it was done for the love of the craft and for a community of enthusiastic collectors. As a collection, our catalog did well in those early years but as competition increased, prices were driven down, file sharing became more pervasive, and the D&D market began its slump, the market became increasingly challenging. This has always been an extremely niche industry with a number of barriers to entry. As a papercraft terrain designer, you are in a rare position indeed if you can make a full-time go out of the market and frequent releases are key. WWG represented a collective of designers, working in part-time and bit-work capacities to move the medium forward. When we were given the opportunity to work on TerraClips with Wyrd Minatures, it was seen as a terrific potential way to broaden our reach into a tangible market. WWG invested a solid year in developing that product line, engineering it and designing everything from the components themselves to the art, the packaging and the branding. We made a strong push with 5 products in the line and it was sent to stores globally. Unfortunately, for many reasons, the product did not find its audience and WWG's efforts were largely wasted. This had a significant impact on WWG in general and our ability to move forward with papercraft terrain. In late 2012 myself and others here, diverted into videogame development. Having a young family I made a tough call to put my focus in an industry that had a stronger foundation. That eventually led to the creation of Cloudhead Games LTD in late 2012 and a (at the time) crazy notion to begin development on a game "made for virtual reality", for prototype hardware. The simple truth is that we had no idea just how involved and crazy things would get at Cloudhead Games. Eventually working and consulting with Sony, Valve, Oculus and others, we found ourselves on the front step of a completely new, emergent industry. What we didn't account for was the time and energy this transition would incur and how that would impact our collective presence here at WWG. It has been a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions. Bringing us to now, the question of whether or not to sell WWG has come up a number of times during the past year. And while we remain open to that possibility, handing over the keys isn't something we're taking lightly. That potential move requires the right ideals, the right partner and probably most importantly the right timing. To that end, we're currently evaluating a shift in management to hold down the fort while we responsibly consider the future and fate of WWG. We require the window this will create for reflection and without feeling pressured to simply offload the company due to our challenged schedule. In an ideal scenario we will find a path that reboots production and continues to support the community. We appreciate that there is a longstanding and devoted community here and we have no intentions of slamming the doors shut without significant warning. We would like to see WWG move forward in some format and with its community intact. We will not move through that transition without letting this community know exactly how things are to play out. ~ Denny |

Good to hear from you, Denny! Can I recommend "mproteau" as the interim site manager for the time being? He's definitely one of the most dedicated among us and very skilled at dealing with an creating kitbashes. |

I'm flattered guys, and I tried to send an inquiry through the website form asking about the opportunity, but I have to take the lack of response as an indication that I'm either not what they're looking for, or they don't have time to deal with it. Either way it's the same net effect. I'd love to investigate some avenues, but I'd have a lot of questions about the business - what the assets really are, what the income actually is, what the legal obligations are they may exist, etc. But, it all takes time, and it doesn't sound like that's something Denny thinks he can afford. |

Thanks Denny, that was what we needed. Firstly we know that this site isn't disappearing from under us. Next we know it isn't up for sale - yet. Finally we know that interim management is a real possibility. I thoroughly support that latter option. I hope you find the right person/people to do so sooner rather than later. Oh - and best of luck with Cloudhead Games. I am not a videogamer anymore, but it sounds as if you have something exciting on your hands. Frank |

I think that a reply like that is insulting. Many of us have invested money into product ranges, wanting to see them grow. When works in the pipeline are discussed we feel it is a proactive company with emerging ranges, and this is why we invest our hard earned money into the WWG business. We also have family and interests as well!!!!! For projects to stop and have no status reports is terrible. How long did it take you to write a statement Denny? 10 minutes is that what we are all worth? Quite frankly to wait this long for a reply is disgusting, and I for one have given up with WWG, will never buy from them again in whatever format whilst the current ownership is involved. R.I.P. I don't have an "investment" in WWG as a company. I have purchased product - not purchased stock in the company. We have all chosen to buy the offered product(s) because we liked it and wanted it. |

We appreciate people taking the time to post here and let us know their experience of WWG, it's products and its service. We love to hear the good stuff, of course. But we also need to hear from people when their experience isn't great, for whatever reason. It is especially important that anyone taking the time to report a negative experience is treated with the same respect and consideration given to those who post more glowing reports here. The point I was trying to make is that for all the posts asking about the status of WWG and releases, why have we had to wait so long for a reply that has probably taken no more then 10 minutes to draft. WWG have still been trading and still taking our money, the point is we deserve a better or more importantly a more timely reply then the one we have been given. If you don't agree with my opinion that's fine but I for one would have invested elsewhere. I personally don't like to mix and match manufacturers. |

I prefer to compare things to books. I follow some authors who bang out great novels with regularity. I also follow other authors that drive me crazy with the wait between books, but when a new one comes out it's worth it. And sometimes, a series will lie fallow for a while while another series is being written, but it doesn't make the original series not worth following, it just means I've got to wait. And sometimes the author dies before the series is over, but hey, shit happens. |

I, for one, will continue to be very happy with WorldWorks as long as this website stays up so I can purchase product. There's plenty of material on here I can use with my games (currently working on my Red Sector supervillain lair, and eyeing what set I'd like to start building next), and if I need something different, there are other producers of papercraft terrain I can purchase from. Being a father myself, I fully understand that Denny needs to think about what's best for his family, and I'm sure he feels very fortunate to be able to make a living as a creative professional. |
