You can eat them raw, but you wouldn't want to. From the FAQ: "The Ren & Stimpy Show" is one of four cartoon shows (collectively known as "The Nicktoons") produced by Nickelodeon, a Cable TV channel in North America. The two main characters are an "asthma-hound" chihuahua named "Ren Höek" (with an umlaut over the o), and a cat named "Stimpson J. Cat". The show's attraction is its shameless and gross physical humor, often consisting of nose-picking and farts (though there's more to it than that). The original expression is "Don't teach your grandmother to suck eggs". Culinary origins aside it is, as Aleph pointed out, basically telling people you already know X. A modern (and much less eloquent) equivelant would be "DUH!" |

Ah, English, what a wonderful language, more exceptions than rules... Waked and Awoke used to be slightly different in meaning, but have blended over the centuries. You waked your wife and now she has awoken to use them in their proper tenses. Or you woke your wfe, and now she is awake. Once upon a time the 'a' in awake was a separate worde and was sometimes prepresented as a' with the assumption that a silent 'N' was present. An I wake thee naught than shalle ye rest. There are words that have changed meaning to their direct opposites, and jokes that have become the actual meaning of the word. Black really is white, though white is not black. Noon was once 3:00 PM. There was a monastary that was so strict that the monks would eat no sup until the noon bell rang, but somehow the noon bell kept being rung a little early... Until the folks in the area started joking when the Sextam bell rang (12:00PM) that 'there goes the noon bell!' And the punchline has stuck around for centuries, the joke itself lost... I love the Englis language, bastard tongue that it is, created to allow Norman soldiers to talk to to British tavern girls... Brythonic has all but faded from memory. The Auld Grump |

Uhm... much as i like the ongoing banter in this thread... This is a sticky thread, and intended specifically to provide a resource for people to learn about glues, and exchange information about them. So, could one of the moderators please flex his moderating powers and separate all the non-glue comments out into a separate thread? [crosses his fingers and hopes they've actually figured out how to do that already!] |
