Loved that game, Grump. It was a blast. This board can be like a trip down memory lane, sometimes. So many games I haven't thought of in years (or even decades now) but had so much fun playing at the time. |

Two words: Loved it! The worst thing anyone said in the theater when the credits rolled was "that didn't suck!" 
I actually liked TPM (except for Anakin's acting, and JarJar only got bad after wathing it a couple times), and AotC (except for the title). But this movie exceeded either of them in sheer raw emotion and story development. And, of course, ILM has outdone themselves yet again with the over the top special effects! 
Even if you didn't like TPM or AotC, you should see it. Go to a matinee if you must, but be prepared for a different movie. This is the only Star Wars movie ever to get a PG-13 rating (all others have been PG), and I felt it was justified for the darker approach. The only other movie that comes close is Empire Strikes Back, but even that didn't have the same intensity, IMHO. It's worth it for everyone, and if you're a fan, it's spectacular!

Grump Don't let the first 2 movies keep you from seeing this one. The first 2, for whatever you felt was lacking, were there to set up the third movie. To quote Peter Jackson, you do Fellowship and Two Towers to set up Return of the King. I think Lucas did the same thing with this one, not that I am comparing Rings with Star Wars. [/quote] |

Yes, but Fellowship and Two Towers didn't suck! Phantom Mennace and Attack of the Clones did. If Peter Jackson's Fellowship and Two Towers had been that bad I would not have seen the Return of the King either. Bad acting. (Worse in Clones than in Menace, the strange thing is that both Natalie Portman and Hayden Christian can act, but not this time...) Repulsive characters (Jar Jar, I am talking about you!). Merchandising from the get go (they were planning the Pod Race computer game even as they scripted it). Actors who are truly awful with saber play up against someone who knows what he is doing, but win... Darth Maul should have been serving deli style Jedi in that battle... A villain who is hyped from the beginning, but has maybe 10 minutes total airtime before being killed. No, I did not love the first two SW prequel movies... not at all. I am hearing enough good about this one that I may still end up seeing it, but it will be in spite of the first two, not because of them. The Auld Grump |

I don't suppose you would say all three LOTR movies were great (which they were) if you hadn't seen them.[/quote] Let Auld defend herself...but i think that he has not seen the last one because he has in fact seen the two previous (PM and AotC) and wanted not to spend more money in it...but due that we say that is the best of the last 3 he maybe will go to see it...I keep saying that the emotional part of that last one works better in the parts of the prelude of the old films that in the parts that are stand alone (well maybe the child one...but it keeps me warm at least...It was better for me the fight of the young Jedi when the senator arrives that the one in the training center...and no care for any of the jedis...not a sense of lost...) |

First $8 I wasted in a theatre was for Howard the Duck - strangely, another Lucas production. I saw it on Opening Day at the Chinese Mann in LA, and that $8 was really expensive for a movie (then). We thought it would be worth it to see it there .... and despite Lea Thompson's presence, boy were we wrong. |
