New month, new list! Today, I found the joys of a 3D modelling program. ![]() Here's the really, really trimmed down version: I messed around until I had a basic (but kinda detailed) shape that I thought was neat. Once it was in Photoshop, I assembled the polygons into a shape that looked buildable, and added gluing tabs. Here's screen shots from the program, along side pics of the very first prototype: I have no idea what I'll do with it, though! Maybe put some FL textures on it, and make some stasis chambers, or a futuristic urinal! ![]() |

I printed up a bunch of the ice caves and Denny's snow door, so we'll see how that goes. For grins, I also printed up a sheet of the ice caves on transparency paper. Looks alright, so I'll play around with it. I also printed up a complete Gatehouse from CWU, to tide me over when I'm not kitbashing. ![]() ![]() |

I just had a harrowing, frantic experience. However, it was all my fault, and I was able to fix it! I started the lower deck for the Maiden. Had everything ready, set out, and I began spraying adhesive. Waited long enough for a permanent bond, and layed out the rear deck piece. Then, as I flipped over the middle deck piece to place it, I realized I didn't know which way it should go! ![]() ![]() A few minutes later (15 or so), I realized that I'm an idiot. I had put it on backwards, and it was really obvious which way it should have gone, because of the way the textures lined up! I quickly grabbed my craft knife and pried up a corner of the middle deck, then slowly peeled it off entirely. I decided to use the same method I used for P&I, when the floor peeled up from the spray adhesive: I Zap-A-Gapped it! Now, with tabs and smaller sandwich folds, this stuff is great. There's nothing I like better. But I've never had to use it in such great quantities before. So there I am, hunched over the model, aligning the middle deck back in place, when I'm struck full-force by a wave of fumes! ![]() Eyes watering and burning, I was still able to align it even better than it was before. So good, in fact, that now the front deck was off! ![]() I made sure to keep well away from the fumes for the front deck when I glued it back in place. ![]() |

Some slight warping of the foamcore. ![]() I'm also chugging along on my CWU Gatehouse. I'm way past the "basic build" part, now. I decided on the transparency version of the portcullis (like there was any doubt ![]() I had sandwiched a chain in between the sheets for the portcullis, but it was a tad too wide for the feeding hole up above. I tried to trim it, but cut into the chain. *sigh* So, I cut it all off, and glued a chain to the side of the hole, like in Denny's instructions. Works okay, but it doesn't feed as smoothly. I'm now just starting the gears, but I can't find a tack. And on that note, I'm off to bed! |

Ok, I finally got the pictures for the fortress/prison up on my site. I've got some more work to do on the build as I didn't get 3 of the towers completed. They don't have 2nd floors. Plus, the second floor of the 6 x 12 building has a warp in the walls at the middle. That's what I get for trying to build such a long building. I'll revisit it in the next couple weeks and put some supports in it to remove the bow. Also, I've got the finish the roof sections for that building. Beyond that, the fortress is almost done. Might need some more pieces so that I can use it for different buildings, but hey, it turned out pretty nicely. Oh yeah, make sure you click the Sekover Fortress link to view the pictures and captions. ![]() Skunk Check out my fantasy campaign, Wizard Quest, a world using Wizards of the Coast’s 3.5 DnD system by visiting . Well done Skunk! It's looking awesome! Also - as I think I've said before - it's nice to see a desk as messy as mine. Difference is, you make a mess producing stuff, I make a mess thinking about producing stuff. ![]() BTW: The Flash Movie Teaser, certainly is a teaser! MAGSMAN |

Over the last weekend I grabbed up VillageWorks(VW) and FL:RetroFit. So I built the Blood Bridge from VW last night. And 2 things I've discovered. 1 While this is an extremely cool model. It is weak structurally. I've been considering basing it(not sure of the base tile to use though). And to strengthen it by printing a version of the basic bridge at 98% and gluing it to the inside of the blood bridge. 2. While gluing on the Blood Bridge (red) posts. I've discovered an odd side effect of printing from a Laser Printer. Glue will not hold well when gluing onto the glossy printed side. Neither UHU nor a typical water based glue. It will pull off with little effort. So I've switched to SuperGlue/Gel. I'll check the results when I get home from work this evening. And out of FL:RF I've put together a handfull of Consoles, Steps, Raisers and Machinery to use with Doom:TBG. I took a few pieces into Photoshop and gave them a *darker-warmer and richer metalic surface to more closely match Doom graphic tiles. I've also Retro-fitted some of the actual Video screens onto the RF prop overlays. I just started the walled facade of a chapel for the Objective Room for some Undead adventures in Warhammer Quest. It's utilizing alot of goodness (kitbashed) from GothicRealms and CK:Interiors. -Floyd * - Selective color Adjustment, Alpha channel Light Render, Displacement mapping, LayerEffect GradationOverlays and such. Photoshiop is awesome! |

I broke down and built my first few buildings from the Village Works set. And I found the single fold walls a bit flimsy(man does CastleWorks Ultimates' design have me spoiled) but the corner support pieces an interesting idea. The roofs are a bit fiddly, but servicable. So I built a 2 story cathedral with a roof tower. And I started the Smithy(medium Stone building). I also built the Horse Stall and 2 of the wooden walls & tents. These are the first steps in putting together a 3d Representation for the Shadows over Camelot game just released.(I need to go and grab Siege Works for some of the siege engines) Also going to have a look over Castleworks building designs again, as I may seriously consider doing a VW bashed building set in the newer style. Maybe adding some interiors from 1 of the 2 sets. That waY I can preserve Dennys great texture work, but have a much better build. ___ I also decided to build a new Blood Bridge after doing some design modifications. 1st I seperated the sides of the bridge and mirrored them to make them a double thick sandwich fold. I made the 4 red posts insert up through the bottom of the bridge and glue to the underside using the 3(added 1 more)reversed tabs. This eliminated the problem I was having with the glue not adhering to glossy laser prints. (Super Glue just smeared the ink into a gloopy mess ![]() Everything is finished except for gluing the 4 outer bridge entrance posts and connecting ropes. And I can tell you this thing is STURDY! Even without a base I could plop down a Bloodthirster and a Tank(if it would fit) dead center and no bowing...! IT's a heavy lug now! -Floyd |
