Heh, here's a sad statement - when I read your challenge the first thought through my beady little head was 'maybe I can come up with a new project...'

I think maybe the Arena, I was originally going to put it together for the 24 hour WW get together, before I found out that I was in residence that night. The parts are all printed, all I have to do is cut, score, and glue.

The Auld Grump

Spent last night cutting out pieces and scoring them.

To make it a bit different I have decided to build it in three halves, only two of which will be used at a time (arena and theater) and am adding a water insert for 'naval' battles. The Romans would flood the arenas on occassion for just that. The water insert will just slide in.

Another possibilty is a fourth 'half' (third?), stretching the arena out enough for chariot races. - just a section that will drop in between the two halves of the arena. Easy to build, just two straight sections of wall.

The arena is an oval, the theater is a circle (roughly). I am using this:

as a basis for the theater's design. Modifying it to use Arena Works and Interior Works.

Enough new stuff to hold my interest, and add some variety. So far all the parts for the arena, not including the extension, have been cut and scored.

Second progress report, then bed - the semi circular end is finished, and waiting to be glued to the base, the base is glued together, and waiting to be painted, sand covered, and flocked.

The oval Arena end is cut out and scored, four stands are finished.

The straight middle piece is printed, as is the cruciform center - mostly, and my printer is once again out of ink. I am considering naming my printer Lola...

Tomorrow I cut out and score the parts for the Arena oval end, unless I get distracted by Mordheim (still burned out on Mordheim I fear - but I will be sounding people out on the possibilty of a WARMACHINE league).

The hard part will be the round end to turn the arena into a theater. Two versions of the stage I think, one without curtains (like the original Globe), and one with .

Most of the glueing was done with Elmer's and gluesticks, I got tired of the UHU popping every time the weather got damp. So far I have not seen a lot of warping.

The canals look fantastic Mychal. I had thought about modifying the elevated rails for roads, but never got around to it. It's nice to see that it works though.

Are you building this for a specific game? Also, I think those canals are modified from Chunky Dungeons... but where is the water texture from? Just trying to figure out what else I need to buy so I can emulate your work

There are a few elements in Gothic Realms that I could use so I might pick that one up soon.

For the water tile I would be a bit stuck though. The Maiden is a very cool model, but I cannot see myself ever using it or even making it, so I can't justify buying the set for a single water tile. I'll have to search on google and find a poorer quality one.

Perhaps WWG could produce a kit with only standard terrain tiles, which could include grass, water, plaza, forest floor, etc... though that probably wouldn't make much business sense. Oh well.
