I've been using felt to hold everything in place on the table. It's been working great. http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/vi ... asterboard |

Excellent. It would seem this topic has been broached before. I might go the felt route. If I ever get space, I would do the default masterboard and just hang my board on the wall with everything still attach with velco. Cool art piece!!! LOL Yep, I like the felt idea as different colors can add to your terrain. If I get some spare money I might use a Chessex battle map so that I can extend out as Aelph suggested. |

Heh, the number of bits that get modified before they ever get glued down... I swear that was part of the reason I made so much more terrain when I was expecting to give it away afterwards - any mistakes I made would be forgotten after I gave 'em away. I gave away some 'failed experiments' to the kids last year. Then after I moved I couldn't find them afterwards... ![]() On the other hand there are some bits that I just won't attempt - the cannon being some of them. Not a huge deal as I already have a fair number of metal or plastic cannon in various callibers. (I did build the Siege Works bombard, it was used in a siege game.) The Auld Grump |

http://www.buyhookandloop.com/All.asp These folks sell 25 yard (75') x .75" rolls of hook or loop for $8.75. With UPS shipping, I pay about $15 roll. A roll was enough to do 2 standard sized (20' x 30") Masterboards, with a little left over. I planning on getting another roll of it, and toying with the idea of doing a larger board (30" x 40"). I do 1" squares, not 1.5",as Denny suggests. I think the 1" is more versatile for other sets and models than the 1.5" scale. I had one Masterboard I'd done earlier, and it was much more expensive than this, even buying the velcro from Wal-Mart. I did have left over Hook (the scrathcy side that attach to the models), so I didn't have to buy any more of this, just the loop (the soft side that goes on the masterboard). It is not offical "Velcro", but generic "hook & loop", but I can' t tell any difference. I have a large number of CWU pieces, plus a growing number of CD pieces, as well as many from Skullcove. I plan on sticking with this method, and making even generic outdoor tiles ( grasslands from Hilltop encounter will work well for this) to use, both in RPG and in skirmishs with my son. We're getting a new digital camera for Christmas, so hopefully I can share some these builds. |
