Post subject: | SF/Star Wars random complex generator |
Hi all. Not sure where exactly to post this, but I guess here's as good as anywhere else... Time to introduce the latest & greatest project from the workshop. My 'Dragon Indoors' and I have been putting together a random complex creation chart (primarily for star wars RPG, but easily portable to any other SF or even modern system) and are looking for some input. So where does WWG come into this? Simple. All the rooms, corridors etc are going to be kitbashed from a mix of FL, FL:R, Mars Station and Ebbles kits. I will, of course be posting pics as the project goes on. For the mechanics of generating the complex, the rooms have been classified into (a la Star Wars Minis) common, uncommon, rare and unique. What we have so far: Common Rooms (1d6 chart) 1-2 Empty Room 3 Bunkroom 4 Guard post 5 Store Room 6 Small cabin (1 or 2 man) Uncommon Rooms (2d6 chart) 2-5 Empty Room 6 Officer's bunkroom 7 Lab 8 Medical Bay 9 Mess Hall 10 Guard Room 11 Droid Repair Bay 12 Comms/minor control centre Rare Rooms (2d6 chart) 2-5 Empty Room 6 Conference Room 7 Hanger/Garage/Cargo Bay 8 Luxury Cabin 9 Ops Room 10 Reactor 11 Armoury 12 Choose Unique Rooms Throne Room/Audience Chamber Data Core Large Hanger/garage/cargo bay Trash Compactor Brig Special Rooms Lobby Speeder platform The size of the room is dictated by a second roll after the use of the room is determined, but unique and special rooms have a fixed size as they will be built as set pieces. For the others, the purpose of the room will be shown with freestanding furniture. Empty rooms have been included under each heading to give the GM some 'wiggle room' as regards logical rooms that just don't come up in the roll but really need to be present. So to the question at hand: What types of rooms/areas do you think are essential for a Sci Fi complex, and which of the four categories above would you put them into? |
