It was quite a day for me. Up early in the AM to drag my rig to one of the Fantasyland Hotel ballrooms. Plug in and meet my team, only 16 of us there so eight a side, we choose MEC. A few quick turns on Clean Sweep, Kubra Dam is where it starts to get rolling. MEC wins 6 out of 8 early games, food comes at 5 pm. Right after we gert into the MAIN COURSE. 500 point 32 player Karkand. Bloody Karkand. I will not attempt to portray the sheer savagery of the 4 hours of infantry combat that followed. As a dedicated Engineer [ without my unlocks..] my T-90 Tank was hungry. And the feast was mine. We went down about 40 points right off the smash. Took us two hours of struggle to set up a frontline and CLAW the points back, one by one. We were even for a LONG time. Then the tide turned, and we began to pull ahead until the points stood at MEC 100, USMC 30. It got very quiet in the room as the crucial fights raged. They took the Gatehouse, our base. We threw walls of flesh and steel at our old base trying to win it back...no dice. Scrambling for other flags we fell back, back against the wall!!!!! They made a final rush, a few misplaced bullets and suddenly they have all the spawn points. They have 7 points , we have 110. I'm the last man standing, hunted by all. In a desperation move I run towards the US base, to steal a tank and win a spawn. I was within sight of the tank when I was spotted. Hid behind a tree but a roving LAV wasted me. Game over. There was audible gasps as the US team whooped. We were stunned. WHAT A GREAT GAME! Try and find THAT on public server!!!! So I came in 5th overall from 16, and won a new wireless mouse!!!! The winner was a 12 year old kid who won a new 6800 video card. I have some digicam pics but the cam's USB port seems to be fried so they will have to wait.. Only found a few screenshots, here's one from about halfway through the last battle. I am pall_over_you |

I love geek-speak. ![]() Good job on 5th, and being the last surviving member of your team. And an engineer, at that! |

Looked like it was lots of fun. Never been to a lan party, only done online myself, but I enjoy that when I play. Haven't done any for about 1 1/2 years, so it's about time I looked back into it! ![]() Congrats on your placing! One thing us old timers have over them kids is strategy. They might have the reflexes, but most of the time, we have the smarts to out fox them. That or the patience to wait for them to make a mistake! Manys the time where I've had some youngin, or at least that's what they say when chatting, sitting somewhere that allows them to kill me by getting the faster draw, when I've started looking around the terrain to see if I could find another way to them. Low and behold, most of the time there is, and they get so mad when they realize you've outdone them! ![]() Skunk Check out my fantasy campaign, Wizard Quest, a world using Wizards of the Coast’s 3.5 DnD system by visiting .
