An interesting tidbit I found trolling the web, for all you word-lovers out there: "A panel of US linguists has decided the word that best reflects 2005 is 'truthiness', defined as the quality of stating concepts one wishes or believes to be true, rather than the facts. "The national argument right now is, one, who's got the truth and, two, who's got the facts. Until we can manage to get the two of them back together again, we're not going to make much progress." ("Podcast" was voted the most useful new word.") Read the whole article . Gotta love the English language! |

I just saw Stephen Colbert "fuming" about this on his show. I'm not sure it's that close to the V-word, Grump. "Truthiness" seems reserved for things which are chosen as preference TO reality. As an aside, I have never heard or seen this word used once before tonight. Not once, ever. |
