Well fellas, I need to take a break from WWG. For too long I've been incredibly frustrated at the snail pace of things around here, the promises that get put off, the plans for products that keep changing (with the accompanying intolerable delays), and other aspects of WWG I won't go into here but which I know many of you are aware of and have suffered from too. Suffice it to say that for now I've had enough and am going to dip into the forums much less frequently. I'll be like a time traveler, skimming ahead into the future, skipping all the many weeks of fruitless waiting and hoping, to emerge months down the road in the hopes that products I've been waiting for will finally be released. It's been fun, it's been heartbreaking, and the time I'll save by not agonizing over waiting for what isn't getting done I will spend on my most favorite hobby of all: reading.

This is becoming a great community because of all the fans, and it's your energy, enthusiasm and $$ that are keeping WWG alive. I'll check in once in a while to see how things are going, but no where near as often as I used to post and rant.

Well it's a real shame that you feel that way and we'll be sorry to see you go but I don't think that you're being realistic with your expectations.

Most of the WWG team have full time jobs, families and a whole host of other commitments which must come first. Take me for example, I have a wife and two young children. My wife and I run a business and both have separate jobs. We get precious little time to see each other let alone work on other projects like this. Believe me, If I could dedicate more time to WWGs and module writing, then I would. It is certainly hard for me to hear complaints about missed deadlines and slow progress when I have put in so many hours as it is!

I wish you the best of luck with your endeavours and hope that as time goes by, you realise that the amount of work which goes into WWG projects is testimony to the commitment and energy of all the people involved in making them happen. Then maybe you can come back without the anger you seem to be harbouring about delivery of the work and appreciate everyone's effort especially when life so often gets in the way.

While I certainly sympathise with you (and in many cases, agree ), I am sorry to see you go, and look forward to your later visits; you are a great member of the community, and bring a lot of knowledge and insight to the boards.

I am sorry Johnny feels this way. I think WWG has an incredible array of products that can keep you busy for quite a long time, from Castles to Caves to Space Stations and ships, to Gothic realms, etc. Within a year we have seen Mayhem and two expansions, two RPG modules, two space related products, etc.

When you think about it, we put Denny in a Catch-22 situation. We want more news, more updates, more previews and when Denny gives us what we want, we get disappointed when things don't go according to plan.

I have been involved in major projects before. We had a major wooden roller-coaster that was finished three months early. We took out three major elements from the plans, yet no one noticed since we didn't announce it. Had we announced, fans would have derided us for not going all the way with the theming. Yet, we got lots of kudos for the atmosphere.

Sometimes, expectations are the hardest thing to satisfy. It is a fine balance between giving out enough information to build interest and anticipation, and too much information that might not, disappointingly, be realized. In the end, it is the same product.

As a fan, I am happy and proud to part of this great growing company. I can say I was there! Hope to see you back soon.

Sorry to see you go JohnnyGS, it was one of your posts that got me interested in participating in the forums.

I do sympathize, but also agree with JackHammerJohn. But you both have been here far longer that I have. I hope that you will not stay gone for long and that your expectations will be realized one day soon.

As Sacretis stated, you will be missed.

Relating to your comments it's really too bad that you're giving up on us just as things are getting interesting. It’s also not fair to elude to us slacking in any way shape or form as we have put out product for multiple genres over the past few months. You're about to miss what we've been working so hard behind the scenes to build up. I don't know if I've made this clear enough elsewhere but WorldWorks is once again evolving and growing. Paul Senior is moving out here to work with me full-time at the new WWG headquarters. Were moving into an office setting and making things "official" this April (or earlier). The whole point being that we are dedicating ourselves fully to project development and making greater efforts to increase our output. It is my hope that the business will expand to a point where I can offer more permanent positions to everyone involved. All of that said, these things take time.

WorldWorks has grown from a one man shop to a crew of over 14 writers, illustrators and model creators in just over 3 years. If anything you are only seeing the beginning of better things to come. We have multiple exciting projects in the works and everyone involved is giving all of their remaining energy to individual projects. The people working with us are doing this first and foremost out of a love for gaming and they are giving it incredible heart and soul. I am humbled by the level of talent we have attracted in recent months and I am extremely excited to share these new developments with all of you.

If a silence has fallen on "Himmelveil" it is only because we didn’t want to antagonize a patiently waiting crowd. Himmelveil needed a world to better realize that vision and born from this was "Arcraetia" http://www.worldworksgames.com/arcraetia.html . Now that we have a whole team working on Arcraetia, realizing a tangible Himmelveil has become much easier and the scope of what WorldWorks does has expanded. Paul, Peter and myself are all hard at work on our various aspects of Himmelveil model development. This will be the most ambitious, expansive tangible fantasy city ever created for RPGing. We will be releasing small previews for Himmelveil shortly.

For those who have shown us patience through this process we are grateful for your understanding. You will be rewarded with only our very best efforts.

I think Johnny's "departure" is his way of expressing his concerns about the direction of the company. It's certainly effective if a bit dramatic. Sure, there are things I'd like to see WWG tackle soon, but it's only cardstock scenery; hardly of great importance in the grand scheme of our lives. I do understand getting very excited about something only to have it pushed back and sideways again and again. I'm sure even the folks at WWG will admit that Himmelveil is now officially Long Over Due.

I personally like hearing about WorldWork's plans for the future, even if they don't pan out on time/ at all.

Patience is a virtue after all : )

No matter how large the team, it takes time to complete a project. At WWG we release information concerning new products so that our customers have a clear idea of what is going to be on offer. If we didn't then the forum would be a far quieter place.

Sure this attitude generates an degree of anticipatory salivation but that's the price for liking the products. So people get tired waiting, who doesn't? Ultimately as one of the newer members of the team, I can assure everyone that each of us is working like little devils.

Only Devils armed with photoshop and MacJournal and not pitchforks and eternal damnation : )
