will it really mess with the rules if the grid isnt 1 inch? I am wanting to use the chunky dungeons I just got but am afraid It will faulter the rules of the game a bit(making the players seem to move too far). Also if it does then Is there a way to get the images in photoshop so I can personally resize them? ill make it work on the masterboard as well....Thank You

You may be interested in a 1" Chunky Dungeons conversion that I've recently completed, called .

It's on the WIP meter as being in Postproduction (it will be sent to Denny this week for the final touches).

If you can wait just a little while for a 1" solution, this would be right up your alley.

If you need something for a game that'll be happening soon, you can use Chunky Dungeons, and just say that the squares are 1" (or the in-game equivalent). Alternately, you can try one of the other, non-chunky dungeon solutions: Gothic Realms and the original DungeonWorks Classic. There's also the CaveWorks set, if you're not married to the idea of a "dungeon" proper.

Like Fl0ydski said, it shouldn't matter much. Instead of thinking that 1" = 5', just think that one square = 5' and you'll be fine. The only weirdness will come if you try to mix 1" and 1.5" sets together at the same time, and even then, as long as there is a clear seperation (and you're counting squares, not inches) you'll be fine.

If you haven't seen then your in for a real treat, that for sure. Reaper is the gamers choice for minis - their less expensive than most of the companies out there without losing quaility. These guy have the monsters for nearly any gaming situation and also the best minis for player's characters.

Please take a word of advice for someone who has been gaming for nearly 20yrs - You don't need every book to run D&D nor most of the books in the D20 line. This is not to say don't get that really cool source book but get what you need and not what you want.

Lastly check you paper miniatures for a great source of monsters. Buy gaming books in pdf. if you can at a huge discount to the hardcopies and print them.

As one of the members who leans more toward the 1 inch side, I buy many different kinds of minis. Course, the metal ones usually sit for a long time unpainted as I just don't have the time. That's why I like the painted plastic ones as they are a real time saver and most look pretty good.

What I've been doing with my larger scale based minis is cutting them off with a knife, then gluing them to the properly sized mini base. I know it takes an extra step, but gets them all to my preferred base size. While it's true you can use the larger scaled Chunky, I've even gone so far as to scale down the Chunky floor tiles with PhotoShop and then mate the normal sized walls to it.

Lately, I've been building the Gothic set to get the 1 inch scale dungeon that I want. Mostly what I'm saying here, go with what you're comfortable with and what you feel will work best for your game!

As far as sounds are concerned, do a search for free sounds on the internet and you should be able to come up with something. There's a program out there that allows you to play sounds with a keystroke, but I don't remember the name of it at the moment, so I'll have to search for it and post it on the thread later. Course, if you don't have a computer available while you play, you'll have a problem using the program, which is why I'm not using it myself.

I want to say I have used CD in the 1.5" scale for RPGA events, which in some cases are glorified miniature games using the D&D rule set. While some of the provided templates will not work the concept remains the same. I actually like the 1.5" because of miniature fit issues. I also have large gaming areas so size is not an issue here.

so CD is best I guess because MCD the 1" doesnt even come close to the 5' mark on pewter pieces I guess im sticking with this then.

**UPDATE** I Extracted the BMU files for neverwinter nights via a BMUtoMP3
converter. The ambiance was basically just windows media format which was good. I then open up my ambiance (Such as wind) in Windows Media Player and then my music (such as town calm music) in Winamp... this allows for me to play both ambiance and music depending on the mood(dark and brooding or happy and calm) and the type of day (rainy, sunny, bustling city,etc). Its a great combo. Just thought you all might like to try it in a campaign.

I know Crystal Caste, in fact, I own a couple of their miniatures carrying cases, can't remember what they're called and for some reason, Crystal Caste's site is down right now. Anyway, I'm gonna be checking out the EM-4 site!

Now, as far as the sound software that I was looking for, it's called, and it's listed as being Freeware, so how cool is that? I've downloaded and looked at it before, but as I said, I'm not using a computer during my gaming right now, so it doesn't work for me.

Course, I'm hoping to start using a computer when I finally get a gaming room, but that's still around 5 years away so...

My Setup:

-Chunky Dungeons 1.5 setup with x3 the pieces needed. (CD seems to be
best choice because it is closest to 5' scale to the characters)

-Winamp and Ambiant Music

-Windows Media Player and Mood Music

(those 2 together are used to set various mixes of ambiant and mood)

I will update more I just havent thought of anything else right now.
