Hah!! Watching the first of many viewings of this film tonight, I noticed a detail of the scene where the Houses of Parliament are blown up. When St. Stephen's Tower [Big Ben] is exploding and they show the wreckage falling towards the camera, I can clearly see what they used for windows emerging.... Printable tranparencies!!!! Yes, there they are, twisting and flapping around as the remains of the model tower fall around them. Since I can't hear the audio with a broken booth monitor I can't tell the extent to which they have rogered the story up, but it looks like a lot. Poor old Alan Moore!!!! |

I haven't seen it but it's my understanding Mr. Moore is greatly displeased by the way the story has been re-rigged to serve the current political climate and agendas. Can hollywood simply not make comics into films without crapping all over them? Sometimes I'm forced to wonder... |

I can't wait to see it. Granted I don't recall reading the comic, therefor I'll probably like what I see. Gearing the movie towards the current political climate may not keep things faithful but it's definitely an appropriate action. It's had some pretty positive reviews thus far by some sources I trust. Then again this could all fall on what your political views are. I may eat my words after seeing it. Anyway, looks like great food for thought worth my ticket price. I'm pretty tired of the crappy date movies and knock off horror flicks Hollywood keeps oozing out ![]() |

What really scares me is that the rights to "Watchmen" are still up for grabs. AFAIK the original comic was written in reaction to Thatcher's Britain. |

For those who are still interested, here's a link from a very recent interview with Moore about these very issues among other things: Always knew he was a character. But WOW. -Polycarp |

I am kind of enjoying the discussion. Figure as long as its civil and we're still talking mostly in context of the movie, we're all good. ![]() |
