It'd certainly be easier for me to participate in a text chat than a radio chat, considering the fact that I'm practically stone deaf.

Yeah, I know Teamspeak has a text interface too-the problem I have is that the text chat seems to be separate from the voice chat, and not everybody is going to type what they say, so I'd still be missing out on the voice bits and seeing disjointed bits and pieces of chat. Plus I don't want to inconvenience other people anyway-it's very hard to hold a naturally flowing group conversation and still keep the deaf guy involved. (Like, when I'm around hearing people in group gatherings, I'm usually too busy spinning my head from speaker to speaker trying to read everybody's lips to actually say something myself. )
So I usually make do with reading the recaps and such that JackhammerJohn posts on the forum, and it's almost as good as being there. (By the way, thanks for doing that, JHJ!) -Mel |

Holy crap! I did not see this. However, if you are still interested, for other reasons, we can still make an IRC channel. I'm going to let this sit awhile and stew some ideas. Maybe I can figure out how to draft a Teamspeak channel onto other programs (thus, I can read and see the chat). I will work on this some. |
