Is Villageworks still worth it compared to newer sets? I'm not asking this to bash anyone, but I'm looking to run a fantasy game and figure it would be useful to have, but I want some feedback on the set before I fork out for it. How do the textures hold up compared to newer? Could it say sit alongside harbormaster without much difficulty? How easy would it be to kitbash interiors for the buildings? Thanks again! |

Village Works is a great set! True it lacks interiors but this is easily fixed as stated above. Buy it, I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. ![]() |

Face it - you never need the interiors for every single building in a village anyway! If you want to focus an encounter on a single building, then InteriorWorks, Harbormaster, or any of the other buildings from the upcoming Himmelveil line (or even CWU's main house) are perfect. But if you just want a running fight through the village streets, or fill out the area around the building you've detailed, then VW is the set for you. I don't really see Himmelveil superceding VW any time soon either. There's always going to be a need for quickly-built house exteriors. So unless they're planning to come out with a VillageWorks II, I think VW will be around for at least another couple of years... |

Village Works has some bits that I find very handy when kitbashing - the water wheel for the mill in particular has seem use as part of a steam powered Maiden build (now gone missing, I have no idea where the darned thing is, and I want it for the summer program). Very nice for wargaming, and for simple seens in an RPG where there are buildings that the PCs are unlikely to enter. Use Interior Works for the feature buildings, VW for background buildings. Also keep in mind that the WWG Adventure, Dinas Ffordd 1: The Seeds of War not only uses VW as a setting, but includes many models that help expand its useability and versatility, too! ![]() |
