After noticing the topic I started looking at the tiles from all of my sets and found that they all had printed 7" by 6 15/16". I have a HP Deskjet 5940 so I used the HP online chat support. To make a long story short, three hours and one print cartridge later they directed me to get postscript drivers from adobe.

Needless to say I'm in the market for a new printer and I was wondering what others are using? How does it do on ink? Where did you get it? How do you like it? Any info would be appreciated...

There is at least one discussion of the perfect printer in the Model Building Tips and Questions area, but it I am having good luck right now with a Lexmark X3250 that I got cheap on HSN. They do the multi-payment flex-pay thing, and even under a hundred, with a tight budget, it was a good deal. Now I'm looking at a re-inking kit for it. The cartridge is $20 each, and I can get a refill kit to refill 12 times for that same price. The odd thing about this particular printer is that it has no black cartridge. It mixes the colors to make black. So far, all the wood grains have ben great, my prints of the Harbormaster set has been great and I look forward to CWU on it. I had similar problems with scaling from what you encountered, and I had my scaling set to on, so when I made up the Caveworks set, my tiles were undersized, but since they were all undersized the same, and since I dont use the grids anyway, it didnt matter that much.

Anyway, lots of folks are getting the less expensive color lasers right now, but they are still outside of my budget at the moment.

I also use a Canon Pixima printer, and after returning from a studio trip to NYC, I printed some of my better photos on photo paper, set to high-quality. They were all crisp as hell, and are now framed in various spots around the apartment. I currently own two older Piximas (ip2000, and i560), and have yet to be disappointed. The i560 is actually better for WW printouts, however, because it has the individual color tanks, as opposed to the single color tank that the 2000 has. I don't think these particular models are even still in production, so i can only imagine the improvements in the newer/higer-end Pixima machines...
(as a side note, I've used 3rd party cartridges in a financial pinch, and have seen no noticable degradation in quality (Staples)).

I have an HP 5510v all-in-one.

I wonder if this is an HP specific issue.
