I am wanting to get a bunch of pewter miniatures for my D&D campaign.  My pockets arent too deep so I would like good prices as opposed to (Cough)Gamesworkshop(Cough) I am going to have the figs go through dungeons (cant wait) so any input is appreciated.

My favorite miniatures line is Reaper.  They have a figure for any occasion and the sculpts are top-notch.  They're my first choice for D&D.  What I like most about them is that they're not associated with any game system so there is a much larger variety of figs.  There are other great figs out there for game systems but they can look awkward out of their element.

Ditto.  Reaper rules, and the figs don't cost a fortune.    A good 75% of my collection is Reaper.

Yeah but the amount of figs I am gonna need will amount to quite a bit.. I am basically looking for max 2 bucks a fig (Canadian) I will spend more for bosses ect but for zombies, skeletons and such I wont.  I think Ill try Prince August and make my own. <A HREF="http://www.princeaugust.ie/">Here</A>

I've seen a lot of different miniature lines, and for my money (literally) GW simply is the best. Yes, they cost too much. But their plastic sets have reached a level of quality (and non-uniformity) that really is amazing. You can get them at 30% off at http://spellme.com/ -- sometimes you can get them somewhat cheaper on ebay, but at 30% off I tend not to go through the hassle.

For example, the GW FT06 Adventurers set is $5.59 for 8 adventurers, including the 4 awesome ones (Barbarian, Wizard, Dwarf, Elf) from Warhammer Quest. Need some great zombies? GW 1559 is 20 excellent customizable zombies for $17.49. Less than $1 per miniature.

Also for $17.49 -- Night Goblins = GW 1524, Orcs = GW 1567, Skeletons = GW 1552, Skaven Clanrats = GW 1532, Empire Militia (good bandits) = GW 3040.

Some great deals at $5.59 --Wizards (8 very cool and diverse spellcasters) = GW FT03, Dungeon Denizens (4 bats, 4 rats, 4 spiders, 4 snotlings and 1 minotaur) = GW FT01, Chaos Warband (4 beastmen, 4 ratmen, 1 chaos warrior) = GW FT08, Swamp Monsters (4 big lizardmen, 4 small ones with bows) = GW FT02.

I'm at the spellme page, but is there a way to see an image of the miniatures?  Or perhaps some way to cross refrence the item code with the item code on another website that has images of the minis?  I don't want to spend money without knowing what the miniatures look like..

http://www.newwave.org has an extensive list of miniature companies that it sells for, and some pretty deep discounts as well.  

I'm also a big fan of GW's plastics...the box sets of minis tend to be fairly reasonable by comparison.

Reaper has some absolutely gorgeous minis for special characters and NPCs of note.

Fortressfigures, also already mentioned, is another great cheap source of plastics (if you don't mind the lesser quality).

Here's a few that haven't been mentioned yet, though:

Confrontation (also on newwave) has the only line of minis that I would say *beats* Reaper for looks.  They're expensive as all get out, but they are absolutely incredible!  

Old Glory does mostly historics http://www.warweb.com/miniatures/glory.html but their price/quality tradeoff is almost impossible to beat, ESPECIALLY for metal minis.  My only caution with them is that they are *true* 25mm minis, not the 28-30mm minis popular with the big names (GW, Reaper, etc.)

Finally, if you want the ultimate in cheap, miniature-wise, take a look at this link: http://www.twilightcreationsinc.com/.  This is the home of Twilight Games, who has a board game called...ZOMBIES!!!  Look at their product line.  

Yes, that's a bag of 100 Zombies for $9.99.  That's just under a dime a Zombie.  Just can't be beat for cheap undead.

Last, but not least, they're not a miniatures company, but if you wander by http://www.dragonscalecounters.com you'll find some high-quality flat plastic tokens.  Plenty of creatures they've never made miniatures of, good prices, high quality...and I have to admit to a personal bias, as I took 2nd place in their adventure creation contest a while back and will (when they've the time) eventually have my short adventure posted up on their site.

You can go to www.games-workshop.com and see pics of many of their miniatures. Just click on Online Store, then Warhammer, then a specific army type (Vampire Counts, for example) then a specific miniature set (Zombie regiment) and then click on BITZ under the picture. You will see photos of the actual plastic sprues containing the Zombie parts.

If you look around the GW site enough, you can find some pics of assembled, painted versions as well.
