Heh, I am ashamed to say that ship makes me think of the dreadful movie Lifeforce... When I was younger I actually liked that movie... if only for one reason. The Auld Grump |

I'm the first to put up my hand and say I will not be building a shp. But I can see a lot of use for a Alien starbase or an underground Alien infection thats taking over the Subway. Codename: Black Helix Developer: Paul Senior Description: 2.5-D Sci-Fi Status: Still in Pre-Production See I can see this as our answer to Space Hulk. As for Prime, well pure 3D Space Hulk, Doom, Quake (maybe not Quake needs more pillars and Arches). Anywhich way it's all dead sexy! Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Although I think the domed lids look quite nice, I can't help thinking that the individual units look a lot like those indian tooled-metal jewelry boxes! ![]() Textures look great - very organic. But the lid textures at least don't "interface" well with the otherwise square geometry. You get these cool curved and ribbed patterns, that are then cut off sharply at the edge. As if you cut out part of a larger pattern in a Geiger book, and just glued it onto the roof. Maybe you could have a wavy overhang for each roof, and incorporate that roof edge into the pattern? Trim: the sharkfins are interesting, but they do look a little tacked on (gee, maybe they are? ![]() The single best-looking detail in that preview, to me, is the little "stern" at the end of the last compartment (bottom right in the image). Somehow, that little nub strikes me as very elegant and fitting. It really breaks the boxy look of the set, even more so than the domed lids. I'd love to see more of that type of details. Overall... great texturing, but I was hoping for a bit more creativity in the geometry. This comes from the guy who seriously suggested making an iris door (or even an entire corridor) out of a condom, of course - just to put things into perspective. ![]() |
