Just curious, fighting like mad with my wife's Canon BJ 250-Lite...quality is horrid... >:( So...I'm looking into the possibility of getting a new printer. Now, I don't need any bells and whistles...I don't need a scanner, a fax, a photocopier, etc... I just need a basic printer capible of printing the Worldworks products in their full glory. The cheaper the printer the better. I don't even mind getting the $40 ones at Wal-Mart if it'll get the job done. I know Denny said he likes Epson...anybody know of a good specific model of printer I should get? Thanks in advance...(new D&D campaign starting in a month or so... ![]() -Nemesis |

I have a HP Deskjet 845C that works fine for me. It cost about $70 at Circuit City. As with manycolor ink printers, it's not the printer that is expensive, it's the ink. Color cartridges for my HP run $25-35 (Black ink cartridge about $20-25). My printer is a year or two old so I'm sure there is something nicer out there for the same money by now. |

I can't say enough good things about the Canon i850. I bought it about 4 months ago at Best Buy for about $150. It's true though, the main expense using an inkjet print is the ink itself. I bought it to make photoprints from my Nikon Coolpix 950, 1600x1200 pictures on 4x6 photostock look amazing, I just couldn't believe it wasn't a photograph. If you're looking to save money I >highly< recommend you refill your own cartidges. I bought the jumbo refill kit for my i850 from www.misterinkjet.com for $50 including shipping. That's enough ink to refill each cartridge 12 times (although the cartidges will need to be replaced after 6 refills). Let's look at the numbers. If I bought the cartridges... black@$15x12 = $180 cyan@$12x12 = $144 magenta@$12x12 = $144 yellow@$12x12 = $144 Total = $612 Refilling the cartridges and replacing after 6 refills... Refill kit = $50 Black = $15 Cyan = $12 Magenta = $12 Yellow = $12 Total = $101 At some point in there I'll probably need to replace the nozzle assembly, but that's a cost that would be the same in either case. |

The Epson 777 has treated me very well and I use it (abuse it) more than the average user might. Its got some great quality settings and takes thick paper well. Ink is expensive (as all ink is) but if you buy yourself a refill kit you'll save yourself some major cash. |
