Ok, folks. Here's a look at what I've been up to for the last...well, quite a while. Aside from the modules, the reviews, the promotions, and so forth, I've been working on the first of what we're calling the "Mega-Kitbash"...a kitbash so extensive it's a set in and of its own right (including full instructions). So I present to you the first previews of Crystal Caves, a massive collection of crystaline goodness derived from CaveWorks. More preview pics will follow, so keep an eye on this thread...but for now, here's a first peek at what is to come: The assortment of colors supported in the set. Crystal Caves erupting out of the ground in a Streets and Bits of Mayhem build. Transitions from CaveWorks to Crystal Caves Not all crystal mines are on Earth. Crystal Caves paired with Mars Station. Now I can try to make frozen caverns and/or a volcano (or better yet a frozen inactive volcano for the heroes to explore...then I blow it up!) Richard |

It's good to have differing opinons I think, so I'll add mine, briefly. From what we've seen so far, this really isn't my cup of tea. I look forward to seeing more photos and perhaps one of those will change my mind, but from what I can see so far, I won't pick this one up. I hope it sells well though, as the idea of Mega-Kitbashesis a good one, and is being discussed elsewhere on this forum in terms of a collaborative mall... Arabin |

I think it looks sweet, but it's really hard to see anything in the B&W pictures. I understand the idea, but I think you should give some color pictures and just make sure it's obvious in the text that everything comes in every color scheme... Sacretis |

The when is soon. The how much is under discussion. Let's see...a general overview of what's in the set: Crystals (if you recall the ones from CaveWorks, there's both of those sizes, one smaller, and one bigger). Walls (both full-crystal, and part-cave, part-crystal). The full crystal walls come in 7" and 7.5" variations for ease of use by both 1" and 1.5" scale builders. Floors Crystal "bits" that can be added to existing crystal structures in a variety of places and ways, from a base for the standard x-fold crystals to extra spikes that can go a variety of places, to 3D crystaline forms (a hex column and an obelisk shape)...even a crystal fill-in for the minecart from CaveWorks. Risers A narrow and a wide Bridge "Entrances" that can stand alone, or be placed between walls. Standee demonlings, crystal elementals, and "bugs" in medium and large sizes. and more... The set FULLY supports the G/1/1.5 scale standards, and every crystal comes in every one of the 9 colors shown in the first preview picture. Finally, the instructions will include all of the basic, standard instructions for how to build everything as-presented, but also goes over a set of advanced instructions for how to take what you have and elevate it to the next level. Together, they comprise a vast kitbasher's guide to using the elements in the set. All told, the set is well over 300 pages of crystal elements, and will (by filesize) be the largest set WWG has put out at over 100 MB...so plan for a long download. |

When I read Crystal Caves, I was harkened back to the of the same name and the D&D module that took you into a amethyst cave. Looks fairly interesting. I may have to get it just to have those crystals for a space adventure I'm going to run two weeks from now. |

Hmmm, will all the walls be crystalline (or part crystalline), or will there also be 'ice' or 'snow' caves? Someday, most likely in a couple of months, the PCs will be traveling into the frozen north of Khador.... The Auld Grump, where they will be forced to eat Robin's minstrels. *EDIT* Doing a mega kitbash of the snow caves might be worthwhile in either event. |
