Hello This might be of interest to those of you with children or nephews or neices, or those of you with your own "toy solider" habit. I made my daughter a wooden castle with 54mm figures (various plastic knights, some LotR merchandise and a Prince and Princess that I sculpted (Prince August medieval fgures are on the way)). A lot of my original vision didn't make it into the finished castle. In particular, there is hardly any interior detail. Yesterday, I bought Interiorworks Castles & Keeps. I spent a little time measuring my own furniture and doing sums, and decided that, printed at 1.5 times normal size, the props would be about right for 1/32 scale. I told Acrobat to use 150% scaling, and printed the big table with the banquet, and the ornate chairs. I folded and glued the table and a few chairs, reinforced the table with a piece of cardboard, and put them in the castle. I'm extremely please with the results. The furniture fits in perfectly with the figures and the castle, although the table is a little big for the "great hall" (the scale is fine, but it's a big table and a small hall). I plan to make more furniture in this way, and maybe get Interiorworks Pubs and Inns and put those big barrels in the kitchen. The problem is that I only have an A4 printer. I was lucky that the banquet table was (almost) all printed on the card - not enough of the other three tables made it. I'd like to be able to choose which part of the printout gets cut off, but Acrobat doesn't seem to give quite enough control. Of course, there are plenty of pieces that will just be too big for A4 paper, so I'm considering getting an A3 printer. If I do this, I will try making some actual castle pieces for 54mm figures. Hi ! wellcome to the forum...no problem printing in scale, I'm not an official voice of the web but if you take a look you will see a few "redimensions" of the pdf (usually to 15mm I belive no to bigger) so you can be calm about it... I will say it before anybody else beging shouting for it "Photos, please...put photos of what you have done !!" - It's like a warcry when someone say that has done something 
Hope to ear (and see) how you "decore" the castle with WWW interiors... |

Welcome aboard, Tom! You might want to try a free image editing program called GIMP. You can crop or re-arrange the pieces you want, so that nothing gets cut off. Good luck! |

Thanks for the replies folks. Yes, pictures. I don't have anywhere to post them at the moment, but I intend to, since I'm quite proud of the castle. I'll post a link here when I finally put them on the internet. Gimp - good idea. It also occurs to me that I could build enlarged Castle Works pieces just by printing one panel at a time on A4, and gluing a paper strip inside the seam. Over the weekend, I managed to get the small Interiorworks tables printed out by flipping the PDF file through 180 degress. The enlarged benches are fine too. I also made a bookshelf in the normal size, because the enlarged one would have been too tall for the castle rooms. In 25/28mm scale it is a bookshelf of mighty magical tomes. In 54mm scale it is a shelf of ordinary books, which is OK, I guess. I might try to make an scaled-up version with one or two shelves removed. Cheers Tom |
