Ok there's a lot of stuff in this zip file and the "click here first file" doesn't tell me what step 1 is. Where do I begin in building the ship? This is my first paper model. I hope I haven't picked a kit too advanced for a beginner ![]() SD |

When I unzipped everything into a folder, it named several sub folders, Step 1 - Decking, Step 2 - Hull, etc. Each step has it's instruction PDF. I would follow those, then use the Bringing It All Together instructions to build all those sub assemblies into the final model. As you go, you will also see optional things for clear windows and things. You can print and build without any of those if you wish, and leave those for a later build once you feel more confident, but I dont think they add too much difficulty, just need to print certain parts on transparencies, as you will anyway with the ratlines, anchor chains and such. Worst case, be prepared to print another sheet or two to replace a part your not happy with. It is a great hobby that is overall very forgiving of mistakes. The Maiden is an advanced build, but take your time, read everything and test fit pieces, and read back through the Building Tips threads, and I think you will have no problem. Everyone here was a beginner once, and many started out with something a bit more advanced than they might have wished, but everyone is also very willing to assist when needed. Good luck, and happy building! Tom |

My advice would be that if you're a complete beginner, go with some of the interior props first they cover most of the basic skills that you'll need and being small they aren't to much of a pain to reprint if you don't like your results - I think the hull is a bit daunting as a starting point although it's actually not to hard once you get going. Also, take your time and let glued areas dry thoroughly before you work on them. Nykk |
