Ok, I'm seriously thinking about putting together a website but I don't know what the exact details entail. can anybody tell me the complete process and give suggestions? (ps, I know html/xhtml, just never put website together beyond what yahoo had to offer.) Thinking about posting the stuff that I make as at this point I have quite a portfolio.... dungeoncrafter PSD file, Inns and Pubs tile generation for Realmcreator(2D and produced before worldworksgames even announced Inns and Pubs.) As well as tiles I created for an Alternate floor(s) in the heart of WWG and also I'm putting together a Top Secret project that is multifaceted. |

I'm not an expert on the subject but here's the steps I went through: Step 1: Find a place that will host your site - be it free or pay site. Step 2: If you want a specific website name (i.e. www.worldworksgames.com) you need to register it with a DNS registration service. There is usually a yearly or multi-year fee for this. Once your domain is registered, you'll need to set up the domain to look at your website (not sure on the specifics of this - something about redirecting the ip address to point at your site) Step 3: Write your website page(s) in whatever internet language you want (html most likely). Step 4: Upload the page(s), pictures and whatever else your website needs most likely using a ftp program. And that's about it. If you're wanting to set up a business site with shopping cart and whatnot, that's outside of my experience. |
