A couple of weeks ago in a separate thread I asked Denny if he had given any thought to an evangelism/promotion program. Denny asked in that thread to send him my thoughts on the matter. I've sent the first draft of my thoughts to Denny and he responded with his comments and suggestions. Now, the time is come to open up the idea to the rest of the community for your thoughts. Please read through these ideas and let's discuss further ideas as how we can promote WWG!

Note that these rules are still be developed and are not in place. These are just IDEAS. Also some language here will need to be enhanced to make it more 'legal'.

Program:
WorldWorks Games (WWG's) Evangelist Program is designed to promote WWG Products to the general public outside of the Internet. In exchange for promoting WWG products the evangelist will receive benefits as described below. Promotion of WWG products can take one of two forms: Submission of photos of WWG Products being used at a public venue such as a gaming store, convention, et al, and through Referrals.


Eligibility:

* General eligibility is offered to all members of the WWG community excluding WWG Staff members.

* You must be an active member of the forums.

* No more than 1 Submission per month by an individual member.

* Submissions will be litigated and uploaded by Aubrey (Aleph13) Erikson (tentatively).


Submissions:
Submissions will consist of the following:

Required:

* No less than 10 digital photos clearly showing WWG product at a public venue such as a local gaming store (lgs). Each photo must be unique in that it cannot be multiple pictures of the same model just taken at different angles (that is submitting a series of pictures of The Maiden just taken at different angle will be rejected, but a series of photos showing the condition of gameplay on the maiden at various stages of the game may be accepted).

* At least one shot must feature WWG Product and the venue in a single (un-retouched) photo. (That is, not photoshoping the image)

* A write up describing the activity of key photos.

* Submissions become the property of WorldWorks Games.


Optional:

* Pictures containing evidence of business cards/fliers/free models being available for distribution to the general public will increase likely hood of the submission being approved for benefit.

Benefit:

* The submitter will receive a free model set per successful published submission as well as a custom 'Evangelist' avatar for use on the WWG Forums.

Also, I had the thought to offer a benefit to people who refer sales to WWG. If anyone has ideas on how to implement, speak up!

When I read "Evangelism", I thought y'all were starting a cult (like Denny decided to actually make a giant card model of himself after all, that we would build and worship and offering little card models )

Within Microsoft they have people called Evangelists who promote Miocrosoft technologies. Since I deal intimately with Microsoft Products myself, that word came to me somewhat naturally.

I realize that. Now. You know, my idea has some merit too. I've never been involved in a cult ( Miami Hurricane football comes close), and a few here have that "cult" hairstyle.

Personally, I don't like the term "Evangelist" as it brings the wrong imagery to mind. I wouldn't feel comfortable introducing myself using the term, or want it as an avatar. I do realize that everyone has their own take on these things, however.

I used to demo GOMC1 and promote WWG that way as I had loads of people approach me to ask where I got the cool streets from. Nowadays, I'm not gaming in stores, and prefer more intimate settings like the Seattle WWG Gaming Group (SWWGGG for short) meetups. We actually had a few people stopping by anyway to ask about it... but they weren't wargamers, so we had to explain the whole rolling dice and playing with toys thing

I agree with others that it sound like the plan, as it currently stands, would work best as a quarterly affair.

In summary, I wish the program success, but it's not for me. I'll continue to advertise the products in my own way. Good luck with it.

Didn't notice you are from Sweden, Teaflax. Ever run across those guys from "Dead Will Walk"/ "Planned Movement"???

Another thought is that free sets might not be the best reward since that is the bread and butter of WWG. Instead, here are a couple of ideas:

- T-Shirt
WWG logo (like the old swag stuff) as a reward. Sure, it'll cost a few dollars, but you can be sure it'll be worn at gaming stores, conventions, shopping at the grocery store... etc. Great marketing tool which will make the receiver feel a greater bond with the brand and therefore a need/desire to buy more sets. If it was the only way to get the exclusive t-shirt, people would go out of their way to feature the product for a chance to win one.

- Name in future release.
Everyone loves to see their name in a publication. I know there have playfully been mentions of certain forum regulars in some releases, but what about making it a reward. You don't get to choose which release you will be in, but you get your name in a future product. Some recent examples include:
MAYHEM INDUSTRIAL: L.P. Sacretous & Sons Ltd, Labbadon Shipping Inc.
MAYHEM DOWNTOWN: Chez Ebbles, Safe Haven Games

Just a couple of ideas... both of which would benefit WWG more, I believe, than giving a free model set.

The referral coupon idea is a really good one. It wouldn't be much any expense for WWG, and would only be a small loss of profit for the sale of another set. The referrer would then use then $1 coupon on his next purchase. Of course, some people would end up with more than one coupon, and could potentially get a $15 set for free... but at that point WWG would have sold an additional 15 sets due to the referrer, so it's not a bad compromise.

Or I could get a little funky:

"I was walking down the skreets of Mayhem!...(a little backup chorus: "Yes he was!")... When I passed that Shellendrac Manor! ("Yes he did!") ... But I did not go in! ("No he dint")...I kept on Walking,,,,, keeping funky!,,,,,on 1.5" skreet tiles,,, that were Chunky!"
