And checking daily is your best bet for updates...This brings up a few important issues I wanted to go over regarding releases. The whole point of the WIP meter is that we cannot and or will not give absolute release dates. The WIP meter guages how much of a project we have completed in our estimation NOT when it will be released. Speaking of which, E-mails asking for release dates will not be responded to. I’m not saying this to be difficult it’s just that I can’t answer them for reasons I'm about to explain. Basically when something is nearing its final release it will be announced two to three days prior to the actual release. There are a couple of reasons for this:
1. Overall it’s incredibly difficult to gauge just how long a creative project might take. For this reason we have adopted a quarterly release schedule as used in the video game industry. "SeaWorks" for example would be categorized as a 1st quarter release (released anytime within the first 3 months of the year). CastleWorks Ultimate is looking like a 2nd quarter release (second 3 months of the year). As we learn our craft and gain popularity we are finding that it is vital that we take our time with releases. Every month the competition heats up and if we slack off on quality we won’t remain leaders in this small industry.
2. "The walls have eyes". Not to sound paranoid but we know through experience that "others" in the industry are watching us. Seeing where we are going next and in some cases planning products that directly compete with what we are creating. This is a consequence of success but we are not blind to this side of "the game". Giving up too much information on a project prior to a release will only hurt WorldWorks in the long term (it’s happened before). For this reason we are being very tight lipped about what is being released and when other than to reveal a products title.
Those are the two primary reasons for the WIP meter. Don’t worry though, we will still allow a short period directly prior to release for fans to request last minute additions to a set. We don’t want to lose the connection we have with you guys and we want you to have a voice in the creative process. Hope that clears up the release date issues.
