Despite the fact that a lot of people don't play clicky base games, most gamers have found that alot of regular miniatures are too big to fit in a 1" square.

Wow!  You know, I had a basic set of Dwarven Forge, but it was so cumbersome to use -- drop-dead-gorgeous, but, so expensive to have enough to really do what you wanted to do, at such a price!  I've used it before, from a friend who had $1,000+ of the stuff, but it was still very cumbersome to use...

With WW, you get the visual appeal, without mortgaging the house -- twice!  I love the foamcore base you attached the floor pieces to, with the black edging -- NICE!  I wonder how that would work on the CastleWorks pieces?  It'd be a whole lot easier to cut, than the plexiglass scraps I'm currently using, and I could still slather on the pre-mixed concrete patch material.  Hmmm...  I'll have to use a green marker for the edging, though.  Denny, once again, you've shown the way, blazing a path where none existed before!  Thank you!  Cheers!

::)  Any chance we can get a sneak peak at SeaWorks?  I'm planning a sea adventure in the next few months, and I'd love to have some models to drool over, to stimulate further sea adventures...  I plan on renting "Pirates of the Plains" before I run the first adventure:

I've created a technique that works in harmony with the foamcore bases so that you can actually flip your entire masterboard upside-down without a single piece moving. What this obviously means for cardstock is that the "moving, bumping" issue has been eliminated. I plan on modifying older sets to use this same technique (as a free download). You'll have to wait until later today to see what this set is all about

I’m currently hammering out the final instructions and updating the sales page. You should be able to purchase "Chunky Dungeons 1.5" by late tonight or tomorrow morning. This set will be offered as both a PDF download and a pre-printed product (the later coming out late this month).

I’m actually marketing this product to both the 1.5" crowd and the 1" crowd. Many have complained that the 1" grid is too small for practical battles so for them this product will fit the bill nicely. This is also addressing the issue of new miniature lines coming out from "popular RPG sources" that have enlarged bases. It is my hope that this product for the first time will force players to think about cardstock models as a "real" RPG option (although we’ve all known that for ages) . You can either dump hundreds into resin cast models or build to your hearts content with this new WorldWorks system for far less.

Oh ya...if you guys happen to hit any "click based" message boards would you mind dropping a bit of buzz for this latest product? Those boards draw some heavy traffic and it would help us recover from the release lag immensely I would do it myself but people tend to frown upon businesses pimping products on message boards (God, I’m such a hypocrite…lol).

You said something about a 1.5" grid.  Is that going to be the default grid size for Chunky Dungeons?  Are you also including the options for 1" and "gridless" dungeons?

I'm really glad you decided to keep it as a PDF release!  Aside from filling the "print as much as you need!" aspect, I appreciate the fact that I'll be able to download it as part of my "Your World Your Way" contest prize!  ;D

Essentially the entire set is based on a 1.5" grid. For design reasons it would be impractical and far too time consuming to create a 1" version of the same sections. Once you see the overall design and how things fit together things will make more sense. I said it before but I'll say it again, this set will work great with both 1" and 1.5 inch minis.



This product will also be offered in print near months end. Like I said in a previous thread, I do not intend on abandoning the PDF format as long as the support is there and pirating isn’t too rampant.

Denny, here's my vote for you to continue, as you plan, to provide the PDF format. That's a great way for me (and many of us) to use WorldWorks products. I'm sure the new pre-printed stuff with be fantastic, but please keep PDF!

The 1.5 inch aspect is the only reason I am able to succeed at my will save (DC20) against purchasing this. As it is I will likely have to reroll soon...

I'm actually glad it does - I tend to use my clicky base miniatures for role playing, since I have plenty, and when I play with them for wargamming Im using an open, gridless board.

It's been my experience that even the 1" grid has been awkward for roleplaying even with 1" miniatures; when you have half a dozen or more monsters crowding a group of 4 or 5 adventurers, and they start reaching in and moving them around... 1.5" grid gives more space for placement, and allows you to place them at an angle if you wish.

Not to mention it makes the dungeon look a LOT bigger...

Ayuh, where as I have been painting miniatures since the early '70s, so I have a lot of figures that fit in the 1' squares.

But your right, they do look a lot bigger and sturdier to boot, which is why I have to keep rolling... I have a horrible suspicion that I will end up getting a set to do up as presents for my friends who play clicky games. (But at least I can put it off till a birthday or Christmas rolls around. But they sure do look like they'd be fun to assemble! )

So I take it you're another Mainer eh? Where 'bouts?

I was just going to suggest that. I hope it's practical, because I'm pretty much a die-hard 1" fan. I'll buy this as soon as it's out and play around with it, though. Just 'cause I'm a fan doesn't mean I can't be persuaded to convert.

I hope there isn't some design limitation that keeps it at 1.5", like tabs that would be too teeny-weeny at 1"... hmm...

Regardless of your loyalties I have a feeling many of you will want this set for both your 1" and 1.5-inch minis. It’s just such a blast building with this set. It’s nothing like previous releases.



There is a limitation to shrinking the set. It’s all based on a 1.5 inch grid so if you were to shrink it you would throw out the proper 2-inch wall height and it would look funny. It’s hard to explain why this is an issue, you'll just have to see the set in its completed form to get the just of it.

Well, as has been mentioned, you could try printing at 66% scale; your walls would be 1 1/3" tall then, though, since Denny says they're 2" walls normally.

Ayuh, the wall height is the kicker all right. Nd using a 1 in. masterboard would throw the proportions right off.

Ayuh, the Maine Coon is an off shoot of the ginger and tabby cat, possibly crossbred with some native wild cat (type undetermined). We have one in the area with the name 'The Blort', a fat purring puddle. I have seen a bird actually hop on the darned thing while it just lay there, twitching its tail.

I was just assuming that like the cat you were taking your moniker from where you came from. (And wondered if you were one of my players...)

There has been a small delay on the Chunky Dungeons official sales page.  A combination of a fried videocard and an unexpected trip to my sisters have put things slightly behind. I pulled two back to back 14 hour days trying to get this baby to the church on time but sometimes life has a way of putting its foot out down the isle. I think I broke new tea drinking records...lol. Seriously though, I feel really awful about the delay and Im dying to get this thing done. Hey Den, will this product ever go preprinted? I really like that option as it saves me from ruining a printer. Anyway I would also like to see more "chunky" sets, just in 1" squares.
