Wow...I own a lot of sets. Pretty pitiful when you consider the only things I've built are most of SoM, BoM, MA, and some other odds and ends from other sets....and some kitbash files I made for myself. MUST start Mayhem Industrial...and Mayhem PD....and Shellendrak. And that's just for games I've got coming up! |

No thanks god I am not accessing internet through a telephone modem. It's very strange, on IE the badge graphics seems to be cashed and the rendering is instant. But on Firefox, the badges apears one after the other, quite fast, but there is so much of it, that a typical page takes 5 to 10 second to be rendered. I have checked my preference on Firefox, I don't see any thing wrong. It's properly configured to accept cookies and all... Anyone idea would be most welcome. |

I have been using telephone dial up for a month, with no loss in quality or slowness (Although Shadowcore took like 12 hours to download  ) The Badges pop up immediately. When our IT guy comes next week, I'm back to high speed, so maybe I'll notice the difference.

So, Arabin, thats the dictionary your reading on the crapper, and you've managed to make it to the "L's" (for "Literal") 
And BTW, you Dog, I had an "Immediate" smart A-- reply, but it took 3 minutes waiting for the "Reply" screen!  THAT never happened before, and I of course blame you! (not too mention I forgot my immediate reply, which was chock full of wit!)

LOL, I'm sure it would have been a classic. Oh well, I guess fate stepped in. It's my new title of Count Arabin... comes with powers to prevent Smart A responses... at least, I hope it does ;D I usually do go for the literal tranlation though... people often get upset when I call them out for what they said, even though it's not what they meant. It's funny, but being in America, and speaking English (not American English) there are many things that have different meanings, and so I have no choice but to take things literally and hope that the person speaking is doing so clearly. Two locals can speak to each other, and understand things other than the words, but a stranger has no chance of picking up on the extra bits. It's not even local slang, but shared experiences lead to ways of communicating that an outsider can't understand. I'm not explaining this well... and seem to be getting a bit off topic. Anyway, sorry if you were offended by my comment. Arabin |

Heh, I know all about difficulties understanding accents. Some places I go, I have no problem... and even get superb extra service when in the south (I love Waffle House). However, I have many stories of people just not getting it. I go to extremes to simplify my accent to make it softer and easier to understand, and speak more slowly... but someone people just won't understand me no matter what. There are at least as many accents throughout the UK as in the US, IMO. Just London alone has a massive variety. One of the closed caption ads on BBC America always cracks me up. It says something like "Even Brits have trouble understanding all the British accents, so if you find yourself laughing at the accent more than the understanding, turn on Closed Captioning". If only that option was available in person

I, for one, really like the new option because it makes it easy, at a glance, to see what someone you're talking to actually has. Makes giving suggestions, providing advice, and discussing possible options and designs ever so much easier than to write out a long "well, you could use this here and that there" only to get back "well, I only have...". Grand improvement. |
