Just ran across in competition for the Ennies.... $125. Looks like a... ummm... errr... Okay, I have no idea what it looks like, only that it doesn't look like a galleon! I think I would place a $15 Maiden against this any time. The Auld Grump, yes, I provided a link to a competitor's site... but I really don't think it can compete.... *EDIT* Dang it! Why isn't Shellendrak Manor nominated?!!! |

It is nice, but in comparison with WWG, the price and quality is laughable. So how do products get nominated? I agree that WWG should be up there. Since so many players, and so many companies seem to use it... you'd think it'd get a mention at least. My guess is that their is a small panel who decides, and they suffer from a fear of "paper" terrain. I have a friend like that, and although he loves my layouts, he just can't bring himself to move away from wood and use cardstock. Weird phobia. Arabin |

Is it purely d20 stuff thats considered?? Otherwise Pinnacle, 12toMidnight, MicroArt bases, and a number of other companies etc etc have far superior products. Stones Edge rocks. I'm really hoping Eric comes out with something new soon. |

Also, the WWG emulator in question was present at GenCon last year... not that I'm implying they may have made friends by being their in person... but anything is possible. I did approach them at Gen Con and didn't get a good vibe from them or their stand. The product is nice enough, but so much like WWG that some of it really looks like they took WWG and edited it a little bit. I'm not making an accusations, but the latest set of theirs over at RPGNow shows streets that are almost identical to SoM, even down to the placement and graphic for manholes and drains. I know people that own their products, but I only ever see WWG, Ebbles, Stone Edges, or Germy products in peoples photos from events. I honestly don't recall ever seeing this companies products in use. I wish there was a way to cast a vote of no confidence in the voting process... though that doesn't really make sense... lol. Apparently you need to be at a Con, buy someone a pint, and suddenly you will start being nominated for awards 
I'm still gasping for air when I compare that crappy school project wood ship with the maiden. Not only is it nominated for best RPG Aid, but also for Best Product. This has to be either rigged, or people are blind. Arabin |
