On the brink of release, our very first PDF game mat for space combat

To answer a few questions ahead of the curve:

* What is Uncharted Space?

Uncharted Space is a PDF game mat which comes complete with all of the graphic files needed to print a 60-inch X 40-inch mat from home. Every visual element in Uncharted Space is 100% original texture work (no crumby Hubble rips or paint spatters here!...lol).

* What formats are you including in this release?

The mat includes both 1-inch hex and zero grid layouts. Other formats may follow depending on demand.

* Can I have the tiles printed for me instead of at home?

Yes you can have the tiles printed for you elsewhere (*some conditions apply*) and a limited printing license is granted within the product.

* So these are tiles I print at home then???

Yes, the board is broken into 32 segmented home printer-friendly pages with complete mounting instructions.

* Can't you just give me one gigantic mat image so I can print that off somewhere?

We won't be making a non-segmented (one gigantic single mat file) available as a download due to the fact that we will be offering tangible vinyl versions of this mat at a future date.

* When will this vinyl version of the mat come out?

The tangible version of this mat will likely be available the last quarter of 2007.

* Are there any props included with Uncharted Space?

Yes this product includes 3-D Asteroid Clusters and associated files.

* Wasn't there suppose to be some kind of supplement included with this release?

Yes but we've decided to take a little extra time with it and give it away to everyone absolutely FREE! The supplement includes extra rules and models for our upcoming game Wormhole. This includes an Automated Defense Platform and associated rules for it, asteroid movement guidelines and two unique scenarios which utilize some aspects of the Uncharted Space: Sathrican homeworld environment ("Rain of Stone" & "Separatist Betrayal").

Tangible product available 4th quarter 2007...... is there still plans for a pre-sales? If there is a lmited run I really want to get my hands on the vinyl version (so pre-order / sales would aleviate that worry). Did not see that mentioned in the Advertisement.

(yea, I really want one of these in vinyl if you could not tell yet). Although having the PDF would be nice to get the gridded version, but if I truly need a gridded version, I'll buy 2 of them. 2 for you and your valiant crew....

Hey thanks for all the encouraging words gang. I hope the product does well enough to consider doing other mats of this type. I would love to branch into other genres as well if all goes to plan.

On the question of pre-orders for tangible mats; I still need to work out a couple roadblocks with my printers before I can offer a stable release for that product. The very second I get that done I will arrange a pre-order scenario. For those that can't wait that long the PDF is a great alternative

Also to be factored in is the shipping cost. Some of us are not living in North America and getting the matt across the oceans might be a very costly exercise.

So I am glad that we have the PDF option.

I'm really pleased to have the PDF version available. I can print it page by page as the money becomes available if need be. No mailing fees, as pixi_frog pointed out. Its a winner! Plus I've got the continual ink feed for the printer which saves a bundle. Even if I had to take it to a print shop I could do a small number of pages at a time. Bottom line ... I can have this mat to enjoy and hopefully other mats you create in the future. Thanks, Denny, for being considerate of all your customers.

CCotD could you not uild a shelving unit above the printer - or place the printer on a shelving unit tall enough so your BIGs cannot get to it? This system is very very sexy I have seen it in practice twice in over the past two years.
