In the interest of making the site more interactive I've been playing with the idea of creating a WorldWorks webcam from my office. You would be able to see me doing my day to day WorldWorks grind (or sitting staring blankly into space...lol). The angle or quality wouldn’t give you a crystal clear view of what I'm working on so I wouldn’t be blowing any "secrets" BUT you would see enough to get a vague sense of what I'm up to.

I would like to know everyone’s thoughts on this. Pointless and geeky or is it something that would interest you?

Pointless.  No offense, but it will not improve the release rate, and it will take up bandwidth on your ISP connection.  I'd prefer you re-invest that time and money into WorldWorks Games' new products, instead.  Just keep working on the new stuff -- that is what we really desire.  Keep up the good work, Denny!  Cheers!  

Yeah, I kind of agree.  It might be interesting to see, but I doubt I would make a point of looking at it.  I think the interactive journals that you mentioned in another thread are a more effective way of sharing what you're working on with us (or just to show that things are, in fact, getting done, when you can't post a lot on the forums).

Put up the webcam Denny!  I think it'd be fun and interesting to see what hours you keep and how much paper is stacked up.

You don't have to have a highbandwidth feed, just post a pic once every 15 seconds or so and it won't take up significant bandwidth.

I have to agree with the Luddites *LOL*. Nothing should distract WWG from it's primary mission, to keep creating beautiful new products for us to download and build. No web cam please.

I'd rather hear stuff like the type of computer you use, Denny, make and model of printer, software, etc. *hint hint*

By the way, perhaps the WIP meters have served their purpose and should be taken down now, since (as we have heard) they are not really accurate anyway.

The W.I.P meters will be staying. This is the most efficient means we have to keep new users appraised of what’s going on at a glance. And like I said before, they are only meant as a vague reference because we can’t give absolutes. Better than nothing and it helps keep the e-mail flood down with users asking “When will SomethingWorks be released?”.

On software I use a variety of tools. I’m honestly working on a “Behind the Scenes @ WorldWorks” piece for the site. Obviously I won’t “tell all” but I will explain a bit about process.

I recently purchased a Lexmark x5150 4-in-1 refurbished for about $80.00 (Like yesterday). I picked it up because it’s a bit of a space saver with both scanner and printer built in but mainly because its refillable. On top of that I am using http://www.inksaver.com/ . It’s too early to say anything regarding what I'm saving in ink but once I start using refill kits in combination with Inksaver I should be good to go!

The webcam sounds like fun. That is, until you forget all about it and we see you doing something digusting. Ewwwww.

But, since it does not offer anything really useful, I can see myself getting bored with it quickly.

I suggest you spend the money in a more productive manner. Unless, of coarse you already have the equipment and just want to goof around.
