I knew we've covered this topic before, but ....

I had my professional printer print the Maiden for me, along with a few other sets. After a long wait, I got the Maiden back from him today.

WOW. The wait was worth it. It might look good in pictures, but it looks even better up close. The work is absolutely fantastic (especially done on a high res, near offset-quality laser printer). Denny, the details are simply astonishing. The map on the wall, the grain of the planking, the netting and writing on the cargo blocks, the scales on the Maiden prow, the rust on the anchor. I can't wait to put this baby together.

I might be a little late on the draw on this once, but once again, kudos to spectacular work. (Oh, and Paul, I'm getting Skull Cove printed next, so expect similar treatment soon. )

Hey Robby, how much to post a ream of cardstock to Canada? After fancy printing of course!

Have you had problems with chipping or flaking of the toner on scored or cut edges?

Zero problems whatsoever - but then again, this isn't your average cardstock nor average printing.

The cardstock is actually 80 lb cover stock, which is slightly heavier than the typical 110 lb index stock that I use to print at home. Its also slightly glossy, but not obnoxiously so. The printing is done on one of those big monster printers (I've seen it) - about twice the size of a typical copying machine, with a dedicated CPU attached to it.

My wife is demoing one of HPs fancy new digital cams - if I can this week, I'll try to get some pics of some of the stuff he's printed, including the details that show up and the edging and all. Suffice it to say that if you can see it on the PDF (go to 200%), you can _clearly_ see it on the print out.

If you're serious about shipping, let me know. For print runs that aren't done as part of trade (I consult for him, he prints for me) he said he'd charge around $.50 a page, with (I think) a 50 page minimum. That would put the maiden in right around $45-$50 (I think mine was a 92 pager), including a full bevy of sails, a few cargo cubes, an extra page of supports, both figureheads, etc.

I'm not sure how much shipping is to the Great White North. I could certainly find out, though. If you're interested (and Denny doesn't mind - Denny, please chime in if you do since you are starting do sell pre-printed), let me know. I could certainly arrange a run.

Next I've got a run of ArenaWorks, VillageWorks (can't wait for this), various pieces from InteriorWorks (both sets) and some of SeaWorks: Skull Cove, most notably the fort. And I've still got both GothicRealms and CaveWorks pages sitting around waiting to get printed.
