Ditto about the gal with the boxing gloves. She is just begging for a kitbash [you know what I mean ![]() Overall these paper minis will fit well with my Metamorphosis Alpha/Gamma World campaign. The robots and robotic arms will mix well with PCON. I look forward to getting them. |

Also, at first glance, they look like they could even fit into a super heroes genre. |

I like the robots, but the other standees (e.g. goofy boxing-lady) seem more appropriate for modern than sci-fi, in my opinion. Space rat scares me. |

I concur most all the human standees seem to be modern. Now the mecha are really cool, and the alien and robot standees a certainly fitting. The human designs just seem to be an eclectic choice for firstlight. I would have guessed that some form of ships crew would have been included in the initial set. Now that teeshirt and helmet clad rodent really has to have a back story behind it. |

What rodent? The last preview pic shows four Nova Troopers dealing with an unfortune Ravaged Trooper who is suffering from CAPSS (Contageous, Antisocial Psychotic Space Sickness). Symptoms include drooling, snarling, wielding tools as weapons, and hallucinations (often of giant space rodentia). There is no cure for CAPSS. Victims must be put down, and put down violently, for the good of all. Then ejected into space. Then shot again by the ships weapons for good measure. Now...who here is seeing rodents? |

The Flaming Chicken Leg adorned fella in the middle infront of the cargo door. Erm or is that the box headed guy thats awalys around but noone mentions... The one I knew would show up uninvited mid game and ask for a slice of pizza. Then commence to fold over 1 entire pizza and eat it. That didnt happen but twice. (once in my game)... |

Flaming chicken leg? Box-headed guy? You're beginning to sound like a CAPSS victim. Do I need to call the Nova Troopers? As for the modern-looking standees...yes, the six completely unrelated individuals who are certainly NOT part of the Global Office have a fairly modern-day look to them, and probably wouldn't look that far out of place if rebased and placed on the streets of Mayhem. However, you'll find that most of the Security Forces (troopers, etc) are all very sci-fi in their appearance. Second picture, the guys directly in front of the robotic arms. |

On the issue of the modern looking crew; This crew was originally slated for an official FirstLight adventure (Flight of the Alba Star). Each character had a history and purpose. It was a bit of a Firefly vibe happening where characters were first and foremost non-exotic and human, balanced against alien/futuristic foe. Anyway, the writer of that adventure basically vanished mid-production and we were left with finished materials (standees) and a less than complete adventure. Instead of squirreling away Alberto's amazing work we decided it would be best to get it out there and hopefully help his pocket book a little bit. I've never been a big fan of ungrounded, far future characters, so for me at least I think this is a fitting crew for Firstlight. Something different to play around with ![]() |

The standee artwork is good, the robotics very useful, but don't you think its time for a change in standee design? ... a bit of simple 3D paper engineering? There are several techniques out there that could be applied to move them out of their very flat world. |

[quote="Gamesmith Denny" Might be worth an experimental release. I've considered it before but it is a bit counterintuitive to the whole "cut-em-out get playin!" standees methodology. On the other hand I've always thought there was room for some degree of 3-D in standees with poseable or swappable features. I'll bring it up with the gang.[/quote] Are you reading my mind, or am I reading yours? ![]() . The simple use of extremity slotscould achieve some 3D and interchangability without sacrificing the "cut-em-out get playin!" factor. You can also add simple torso and head layering(max of 3 layers) with one single waist and neck pivot joint (toothpick) glued between the layers. To go any further would be counter productive. But you could blow the figure apart and not lose it, morph it ... whatever. For a few minutes added construction per character it might be worth it. |
