Depending on the look you want and type of character, there's Yu-Baaba, from Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, Spirited Away in the US. Might be hard to get a good picture of her, but one is .

Also, have you checked out images of Gaia, since she's an Earth Mother... is one.

There's Demeter, the Greek goddess of Earth, . Very slow load time for me, kinda dark image, but could be what you're looking for.

While on that page found an ad for a Greek Holloween costume, . Not Demeter, but...

You could also do searches for Earth Mother, Gaia, or something similar if those images aren't what you're looking for.

If those don't work, let me know and I'll see what else I can dig up!

btw Phatz, I noticed the new avatar some time ago, but neglected to give you your due.

Not only do I love the new look you gave me, I am very very impressed by your dilligent homework, and your ability to distill your impressions/gleanings into a quintessential image. You got mine in one, man. The Dreadnaught-class corvette from Independence War is my all-time favourite spaceship from any time, place or genre. It's a well thought out, well designed, technically interesting (and feasible with a minimum of hand-wavium) ship that is just dead sexy to boot. I made that paper model in the picture (avail. for dl for anyone interested) and haven't stopped since. I'll bang out a new corvette every few months or so, just to keep me chops up.

actually, I didn't do it. I have been _seriously_ remiss in my duties of late... As a matter of fact I promised work to Aubrey several weeks ago and have failed that to...

Not an excuse, _but_
My work life has been in upheaval for a while. I got a new boss in June '05. Since then I got a promotion and work in the county office. Now 18 months later he has announced his departure, and the position may be held open for a period of time. While I hope that it does so I can get my degree and take the position myself, I will have to work in this position in the meantime as well as handle my own duties. Already, my duties have interfered with the performance of my duties here at WWG.

I intimated such to Aubrey, but I have made no official contact with Denny. This may not be the right forum, but things are getting beyond my control.

Already, Denny and others have picked up my slack, but I don't think that is fair... As such, I am going to have to step beck for a while... Hopefully there will be room for my return in a few months.

The time I spend here now is much more theraputic (sp?) than just about anything else in my life right now, and I have avoided it for the past few weeks, knowing that I still owed work. So, if I step back maybe I can get some perspective on things.

Just don't give away my seat (so to speak) I'll still be around, hopefully more so....

Please don't worry about it! Congratulations on the promotion and I hope that you can grab that new position. I want you to be able to show up here and just "hang" without worrying that you are behind on anything. Life is too chaotic as it is and you don't need little worries like that hanging over your head.

Thank you for doing an amazing job with avatars to date! We'll keep that job open for you whenever you have time in your life to deal with it.

In the mean time, maybe what we'll do is offer the template files up to our regulars and allow them to tweak their own avatars. Anyone with Photoshop or Gimp should be able to go in there and play with things. I'll see if I can make that happen.

To that effect, I can make time this weekend to clean up the file I use and send it to you without the "special" templates in it.... Then you can release it... I use layers for everything and just turn on the applicaple (sp?) ones... I'm not sure GIMP will handle the layer effects properly, but anyone with PhotoShop should be able to use it handily enough. Then I can come back for guest appearances, time permitting...

I really appreciate your kind words, and I plan to make it a part of my daily routine to stop by again. This community has been really great to work with.... I _will_ see you all around....
