I understand that everyone is busy with wormhole and other modern projects, but, is anything being done about updating villiageworks or producing a set of medieval ruinworks?

The harbourmaster and the maiden are great looking models, even the buildings from castleworks are wonderful, but, they are multi-level enclosed buildings. They are perfect for visual aids while role-playing but have you ever tried to use them in a skirmish or battle game? They are too fiddly for adding and removing levels without loosing the placement of models or just being too much bother for what they are worth.

Villiage works is great for what it is, but, the great promise of Himmelveil was that there was going to be a ruined section. This immediately brought to mind the great possibilities for mordheim and other skirmish level games.

Now, it has been a few years since the hard drive crash and I have been wondering if this project is dead in the water.
I was hoping that at least one or two ruined buildings had been designed so that a gamer could put their hand into the building to move their models around.

I would be willing to pay for even a few buildings as that is far easier than building things from scratch.

I have tried to be quiet over the past few years, but, with the release of paper miniatures for a set that does not exist, well, it is sort of adding insult to injury. Watching Himmelveil appear and dis-appear on the project tracker combined with no news on the project leads me to ask - is it dead?

The zombie question rises again.

1) The standees are not "for a set that does not exist". The standees are set in Himmelveil, which is the name for our "line" of medieval city materials. That line, to date, has one modelset (the Himmelveil Harbormaster) and now two citizen standee packs (equally usable elsewhere).

There is no single set that is "Himmelveil" that isn't out yet.

2) Streets of Himmelveil, the hapless victim of the infamous hard drive crash, has never been a "dead" project, but it seems to be cursed with every manner of misfortune imaginable. After the crash, Denny undertook to work on another project before going back to it to help alleviate the frustration and disappointment.

That project, Wormhole, has taken up far more time and effort than was ever imagined, including losing the original game author and having to take much of the project in another direction entirely...some elements several times.

Since then, we've asked another designer to pick up Streets, since it would be so long before Denny got back to it. As soon as he agreed to work on Streets...his time and availability to work on ANY sort of WWG set was whisked away upon the wind...The Curse of SOH claims another victim.

We're currently discussing who is going to dare to take on this accursed project next, and risk tempting fate to try to bring you the Streets of Himmelveil set. For now, though, please know that it is NOT off the plate, it's not being delayed intentionally, and it won't be dropped.

3) There is another Himmelveil-line project that's currently well along, but stalled (a modelset, not a standee pack). That one is my fault, and now that I've finished a major project that i've been busy on, I'm going to turn my effort towards getting that wrapped up and kicked out the door.


I guess it's the long way of saying "no, it's not dead, please be patient". I'm afraid there's not a whole lot more I can say on the matter, but I wanted to offer at least some sort of reassurance and explanation.

I think the reason this keeps comming back from the dead, is over the past few years, it really has felt like fanatasy has started to be ignored around here.
Before anyone jumps on me, yes I know the horror sets can often be used for fanatasy gaming...
But if you look at what has been released since 1/1/07 you see that only fantasy did not have a full modelset released for it last year....

Add to that, the fact that Bob has already let it be known that there will not be a fantasy module release this year and that nothing fantasy is on the WIP meter, it's starting to look very dim for fantasy.

Now if there really is another modelset that's comming along, great!!!! It will probably quite some of the discussion, but as far as we can tell it's farther out then Maximum RoadRage which is only at 10% on the wip meter.

Sorry gang but Bob put it as best as can be put at this time. It is not our intention to upset the fanbase or further delay the project but issues have popped up which we could not avoid.

I just want you to know that we know how urgently some of you want this project to see the light of day. We completely understand the frustration and the "on empty" patience level. At this point the best that we can do is try to clear our plates and put the project back on the development road. We are doing everything we can to make that happen.

Oh and fantasy is NOT dead by the way. It just took a minor detour while we strengthened other aspects of the business. You can expect to see a stronger return to that genre.

How about doing the micro-releases - externals then retro fit for internal props and ruin versions. By micro I mean small single buildings (not Harbor master single) like one of the villageworks models.

In my humble (is that word right ?) opinion a street mini set should be set as once as possible..as to calm the masses..nothing more that a few wonderfull pebles and a few roads...only to know that it exist and put over village words and harbourmaster...and then maybe a few new houses... take the mini aproach..and the go for the big... only an opinion.....

What's going to be the difference between "H" and VW?

I for one am happy to wait. Given the overall level of quality that Mayhem has demonstrated, I can only imagine how cool Himmelveil will be. I can see things like Cottage row, a Manor Hourse, we already have the HarbourMaster, this stuff is going to be great. I wish I was talented enough to create this stuff.

OK, I see something strange here some of the same people that keep asking about wormhole are now asking about Himmelveil, Now this wouldn't be bad if WWG was a large studio with multiple design teams to take on one project each, but the reality is that WWG is one design team at best working on a couple projects, slowing things down, but still producing quality product as good if not better than the products made by companies that have these studios with multiple design teams.

You can't be pushing one design team to work on more projects than they already are, this will lead to one of two things, WWG product making slowing down due to trying to work on too many projects at once, or WWG having to lower their bar for quality. Neither of these outcomes are what we want, so I personally am going to wait and be happy with what WWG gives me.

I'll let you take your time because I'd rather buy one finished product than a product that will definitely need updates. Or let me buy in early and give me finished models as they come out and then give me the finished set all together.
