*ahem* Wondering when the expansion or freebie with the squid is coming ... not that I want anything to delay Castleworks Ultimate though! But a squid, that would be easy *LOL*. |

In the mean time, take a look at : http://lhvcc.com/egiftshop/0305n/ETHtml01.htm for a free giant squid (and the nautilus). |

I wouldn't knock any of WWG's stuff but I would think that non-organics are a lot easier to design and construct than organic stuff in cardstock format. In that light, I'd stay clear of making an organic model like a squid or tree unless I was darn sure I could make it look really good. Bear in mind, WWG has managed to make some really nice palm trees, so the talent is there... Janx |

I'm with janx on the organic vs. inorganic issue. I love WWG's buildings and other "inorganic" models, but they do tend to be rather... well, "square"... Working with curves is a whole other ball of wax, not only in terms of designing (need a good 3D cad program, including a way to "unroll" a surface into 2D), but also in terms of building complexity (lots of small tabs to glue two curved pieces together). Not impossible, just requires a very different tool set (not to mention different textures). Yamaha's Papercraft website has some I would love to see Denny and/or Paul expand their repertoire and tackle something with more curves, but that's not where their forte seems to lie right now... |

Guys, I can appreciate where you're coming from here...but don't be expecting that just because you haven't seen it yet it means that they can't DO it. When the time comes for some organic, curvy WorldWorks items...and the time will, indeed, come at some point...just wait and see how they do on it. Don't be thinking that it's outside their skill, ability, or expertice on the sole basis of not having seen it yet. |

I smell a challenge brewing...lol. But seriously, no offense taken on this end. I actually had some good plans (on paper) for a very curvy but easily assembled squid. The ONLY reason we have stayed away from overtly curvy lines is because we want our builds to be accessible to all skill levels. We make up for simple geometry with complex texture passes (Much like the videogame biz). Paul may have pushed things a little with SiegeWorks but for the most part we like to keep things simple and quick to build. This isn’t to say that we wont go there from time to time but generally the design philosophy around here is "less time building, more time playing". |

Wait wait wait wait wait ... I thought the squid we were talking about was a ... FLAT ... TILE ... that could be plunked in the middle of the sea, not a fancy 3D curvy thing ... Just give us a tile showing some parts of a giant squid and another with a giant octopus, kind of like the one octo arm on part of the island set, only more so. I never thought of a 3D model ... just a tile ... sheesh *red faced* |

Well, it's always good to have a challenge in life... I would never say its impossible to make an organic. Just harder. I don't doubt Denny and Paul will come up with some organics of curvy complexity, just a matter of when... Janx |
