This is what won the Origins award for best miniature.... Comparing it to The Maiden.... ![]() Please gods, Denny, get some notice out there! What won the prize is just sad. The Auld Grump *EDIT* Not to mention that I would love to see what can be done for flying ships in cardstock.... |

Just need that special, willing, enthusiastic, funded, established partner to come swooping in to help us out ![]() ![]() ![]() Bottom line though Grump, I know how badly we suffer from extreme exposure deficits. We're in between that damn rock and a hard place with very tight funds in which to get ourselves noticed. There are free ways to do this of course but they only go so far. On a somewhat related note you'll be happy to note that we are now in the process of getting our complete catalog up at YourGamesNow and soon Paizo. Perhaps then more eyeballs will fall our way ![]() *Flying Victorian, steam-tech ships...One day Grump, one day.* |

Not to knock the maiden or to support that ship (though there is a bit more to it than that http://www.dragonfiresigns.com/sc_image ... _apart.jpg , but the Maiden, could not have won, as it stuff from the past year... I like the Madien, i really do, I know i built my Maiden over a year ago becuase the Bashes i made are two years old, and i didn't buy it when it first came out. i even made two bashes out of it, that if i ever finish the project i am working on now will get uploaded....(and talk of the maiden has me rethinking trying to make a Sail barge out of it again.... But... while the Maiden or something else would be really cool to be submitted was it?, from http://www.originsgamefair.com/aagad "Every fall, publishers and creators submit their best products from the past year as eligible in a large variety of categories. The members of the Academy then vote on which products should be named Origins Award Nominees. The top five vote-getters in each college are placed on the final ballot." i hope this does not sound out of place, but is WWG a member Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design (AAGAD) to have it's products be submit for consideration? The other final contenders for Miniature Or Miniatures Line were Skarrd Raze #2 by Dark Age Games George R.R. Martin Masterworks - Premium Miniature Line by Dark Sword Miniatures, Inc. Titanius Fury by Dragonfire Laser Crafts Inc. Bronzeback Titan, HORDES: Evolution Miniatures Line by Privateer Press Dark Heaven Legends Fantasy Miniatures by Reaper Miniatures I only recognize two of those things off the top of my head, the Dark Sword AGoT/SoFI stuff, and Reapers That laser cut $75 hunk of wood should prob have been in "Game Support " section, where loads of WWG stuff could be submitted as well, heck now even you guys could hit Miniatures Rules with Wormhole. But i guess my question is did WWG submit anything? |

I would like qualify my previous post, by saying that my above comments are directed at the ship being put into the wrong category and not the ship itself. The ship is actually very nice and would make a nice addition to anyone's collection. Joey |

I live w/in a 20 minute drive of the GAMA headquarters, and I went to Origins this past weekend, mostly to do legwork for business stuff and shop a bit (30% off Mayfair boardgames for educators ... college teachers count ![]() I'm sorry to say this ... Cardstock modelling is almost completely invisible in the larger gaming world. The only cardstock modelling anything that I saw at the con was a big whitewash city town display for Aces and Eights (an absolutely awesome western RPG; it rightly won the RPG Origins award) and the stuff at paizo, mostly just tiles. And as w/every big non-digital US gaming con, I've been to over the past years there were the usual suspects of terrain hawkers there ... the resin people. I am still absolutely floored by the amount of $$ they charge for what they sell. And there they were ... a heaping helping of potential WWG customers walking out of the vendor hall w/resin terrain (mostly unpainted terrain mind you). Then you had the new bendy dungeons stuff ... cute idea, no doubt, but to get have enough to set up a decent sized dungeon you could have a couple of WWG download sets. Note: I'll leave the starship combat people for another screed. Since discovering this whole cardstock terrain thingee, these types of things drive me more and more mad. And, I'm sure that when I go to Gencon in Aug (more legwork and actually to game this time ![]() To get a little more back on topic ... That thing that won the best mini actually was the best mini, as far as a combo of innovation and appearance. The other entrants were pretty snoozy; I don't even remember what they looked like. @ska ... From my understanding after having talked to some of the GAMA people (hence the legwork), GAMA is mainly driven by the commercial connection between manufacturers and retailers. Hence, to get on the GAMA radar screen, there usually has to be some sort of tangible product for stores to sell, especially seeing as how retailers have some input into the awards. Now, if WWG were to release the Maiden (or whatever) in some sort of tangible form (i.e.: actual model in people's hands not CDs), then that item would be up for the award that year even if it had been released only in PDF prior to that. At least that's what I was recently told. |

The way I first heard about World Works was through just such a cooperative effort: I picked up a copy of Rezolution. |

I really recommend starting topics about new releases in the are of the E.N.World Forums - at least one of your competitors does so on a regular basis. Heck, at this point it is likely worthwhile to put up posts for recent releases such as Hinterland and Cathedrae Noctis. The Auld Grump |

Those plastic thingees are a lot more expensive than they seem to be. Wizkids buys unbelievable amounts of them. I think it's safe to say to that WWG would have a hard time going that route, especially w/the size of the models (even for WH). Moreover, IMHO that plastic probably wouldn't work as a material for WWG models (very glossy & harder to "model" with than cardstock). There are other, cheaper and better ways to bring cardstock models to the wider tangible market. An aside: Last i checked Delano (located in sunny Michigan ![]() |

One cool advertisement for WWG is the rules. There's lots of photo's of Mayhem sets and Pulp Monsters actually gives a plug for WWG! |
